Wanniassa ram raid!

By johnboy - 20 October 2011 15

ram raid damage

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses after a ram raid left a Wanniassa business with a $30,000 damage bill.

About 3.00am this morning (October 20), police attended Wok-It-Up Noodle Bar, Gartside Street, Wanniassa in response to a report of a burglary.

At the location, police saw that the shop front had sustained significant damage and tyre marks leading to the front of the store.

A review of the CCTV shows that at 2.28am this morning, a white tray-back ute has reversed into the store four times before driving away from the scene.

No property was believed to have been stolen during the ram raid.

Police urge anyone who may have been around Gartside Street, Wannaissa around 2.28am this morning or recognises the white tray-back ute and can assist police with the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

Disgruntled customer? I understand that the food at Wok it Up has been on the slide since they lost their best chef a few months ago, and that there are now ‘quite a few’ disgruntled customers. Certainly their other stores are much quieter than they used to be.

Ramen raid

I was in there last week – pretty sure there’s no ATM in there anymore. The closest one is inside Ali Babas.

Also good news for the staff, they were back working last night, albeit without windows, just a dirty big sheet of timber covering the whole.

Was on my way to work yesterday morning, through the back streets of Monash and on one corner, near the Western end of Sturdee Cres there was an aweful lot of Orange painted glass on the road. My first thought was that someone had dropped a couple of mirrors on the road. then when I saw the Wok It Up signs it became clear that it must have been dumped by the ram raiders. Reversing into the shop front has left all the glass on the tray of the ute. They have spun the car and reversed with quick braking on the road to clear the tray. Lots of tyre marks to go with the glass. My bet is that it wont be long before an arrest.

From the looks of the top picture, there appears to be plenty of CCTV surveillance.. shouldnt be too hard to identify the car.

Also, isnt this more Erindale than Wanniassa?

Assuming they used their own car… they tend to be stollen too more often than not.

You do know that Erindale is a shopping precinct in Wanniassa, right?

Yeah, but no one thinks of Gartside St as Wanniassa. Or at least I don’t. Pander to me, dammit!!!

I blame Slow Noodle Fast, they haven’t taken to kindly to Wok It Up muscling in on their turf.

1 That’s a great point!!

but if there was an ATM there..

I hope they have insurance though because Wok it Up’s food is so much tastier than Slow Noodle fast.

Doesnt something have to be raided for a ram raid… this just seems like a ram?

Damn it! I just found the place, and love their stuff. I hope they are back on their feet shortly.
