Territory And Municipal Services is calling for volunteers to join the friends of Mount Majura in mapping rabbits along the Mount Majura and Mount Ainslie Nature Reserves.
“Parkcare volunteers have begun preparations for rabbit control and we will be looking for additional volunteers in coming months to assist in a rabbit mapping program,” said Stephen Hughes, Manager, National Parks, Reserves and Rural Land.
“Volunteers are given training in locating and identifying active rabbit warrens, recording their location using a GPS and marking each site. Data will then be collated to produce maps of each area which will be an invaluable resource for control work early next year.
Registration is tonight from 6-7pm at the Phillip Avenue entrance to the Mount Ainslie Nature Park.
