A manhunt for a man facing more than a dozen charges has ended with him behind bars.
Thor Sven Kristiansen, 36, briefly appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court the following day (18 December), when he did not apply for bail.
He has been charged with multiple charges of furious, reckless or dangerous driving, as well as several charges of failing to stop for police.
He has also been charged with unlawful possession of stolen property and property damage.
ACT Policing asked the public to report sightings of Mr Kristiansen last Friday (13 December)
“Mr Kristiansen is wanted in relation to a number of stolen motor vehicles, stolen property and traffic-related offences,” a spokesperson said at the time.
He was later allegedly involved in a traffic incident on The Valley Avenue in Gungahlin before he left the scene on foot.
Police were notified on Tuesday (17 December) that Mr Kristiansen was in Ainslie in an allegedly stolen white BMW SUV.
“Police engaged with the stolen vehicle through Canberra’s inner north and south before it was abandoned,” the spokesperson said.
Later, he allegedly stole a bicycle and tried to flee from police before being arrested in Curtin on Tuesday.
In court, Mr Kristiansen sat through much of the proceedings, saying his back was “sore” as Magistrate Robert Cook read him a series of charges.
The charges relate to alleged offences from October to December.
During his appearance, Mr Kristiansen also appeared to be trying to talk to people in the gallery.
Magistrate Cook eventually told a supporter to stop trying to talk to him during proceedings, or they would have to leave the courtroom.
When Mr Kristiansen was being taken back into custody, a supporter appeared to try to pass a note to him, but this was refused by ACT Corrective Services Officers.
Mr Kristiansen will next return to court in January. No pleas have been entered.
