Wanted - Pangallo Independent candidates

A friend of mine was recently approached by a Pangallo Independent Party ‘organiser’, Joseph Carbone, with an offer to be a candidate for the Pangallo Independents. Carbone, who apparently made a big deal of the fact that he worked with Patersons Securities, had little understanding of politics or the voting system in the ACT.

My friend said he wasn’t sure if he was being ‘interviewed’ for the party ticket or being given stock exchange advice from Carbone.

Anyway, my friend decided to take the next step and meet with Frank Pangallo. If my friend had any doubts prior to running with the Pangallo team he had no doubt he wouldn’t after meeting Frank. My friend said Pangallo was one of the most “dreary” people that he had ever met.

Both Pangallo and Carbone told my friend they had big financial backing for the campaign and they were convinced they would win a number of seats.

When my friend said he would not contest the election they ‘desperately’ pushed him for other people who may wish to run LOL.

So, anyone out there who wants a career in politics please contact Frank ASAP. You’ll be a shoo-in 🙂

I saw Frank Pangallo on TV recently produly boasting 7,000 new blocks in a new town centre for Queanbeyan and at the same time bagging Canberra.

He really has to quickly work out who he is loyal to – Canberra or Queanbeyan.

Jakez,

I’m fairly new to the ACT electoral system.

Coming from QLD, we vote National or Labor, preselections are won by branch stacking, the encumbant party tends to win due to gerrymandering and Sir Joh is considered a god.

How does one have an “independant party”? It is an oxymoron.

There’s a question and statement that has never been made before. Finally someone has said what we were all thinking…..back in 1989… Then we got over it.

I don’t know the veracity of this post but Pangallo strikes me as one of the odder things to come out of an ACT election (first prize has to go to big Mal’s 30 second camapaign, simply for the hilarity). He was the mayor of Queanbeyan…but I really can’t see any natural link between that and ACT politics.

I dunno if it’s the same mob, but Carbones have been makign good bread in wickerslack lane for decades, the big crusty loaves in white paper bags.

As for parties, the current ACT gov’t have made it so hard for independants to run, that anyone who’s serious has to form a party.
