Wanted: Walking Class Heroes

On Friday 2 October, the Pedestrian Council of Australia is calling on all workers to leave their cars at home and walk to work for better health and cleaner air.

Walking is a great way to increase energy and fitness and get your brain and body working for the day ahead. Strapping on your sneakers for the daily commute will also reduce the number of cars on our roads and help cut dangerous emissions.

If you live too far away from work to walk all the way, why not consider combining a walk with public transport, or even just parking the car a few blocks further away from the front door.

This event is not a commercial or fundraising activity – it is purely designed to encourage workers to be more active in their daily lives to create a fitter, healthier community. Traditionally, Canberra lags behind the other capitals in the number of people who strap on their sneakers for the day, so this year we want to show them that we can step it up getting a record number of local organisations on board. For more information, or to register your company for Walk to Work Day 2009, visit www.walk.com.au

Be a ‘walking class hero’ this Friday October 2 and hit the streets for national Walk to Work Day!

Too far, sorry.

Who said anything about a conspiracy.

I just mentioned that I choose not to support this group as I think they are a single issue lobby group, and I don’t agree with their policies.

Unfortunately they have the ear of government, and I bet that if they get a good turnout for this event that they will use it to market themselves to government.

Also, they put themselves forward as representing pedestrians, but the only way you can be on this so called council is to be invited to join. Hardly representative.

Thanks, but I’d rather have nothing to do with Harold Scruby and his cronies.

For those who don’t know, the PCA is basically a one man lobby group which hates cars, bicycles, buses and pretty much anything that isn’t a pedestrian. For some reason the government, especially in NSW listen to these clowns.

…sure they are, it’s a conspiracy I know.

If i dont ride my bike that day I will be taking the bus. Even better I might drive the mortal enemy of the environment & pedestrians, my Nissan Patrol with a bullbar (another of Scrubby’s pet hates)…….

Neat logo but.
