Water prices go up - still not our most previous precious resource

The Canberra Times reports water prices are on the way up, with the top price of water to reach $1.74 for a thousand litres. So “Our most precious resource” is worth, at most, bit under 2c a litre.

And despite all the doom and gloom and expensive ads encouraging you to fix you leaky tap we have this happy news:

Actew general manager Michael Costello said that despite the price increases, Canberrans would still have some of the cheapest water bills in Australia. He was reasonably satisfied with the price determination by the commission, but remained concerned that sufficient return on the value of Actew’s assets had not been allowed for.

2c a litre – still incredibly cheap for such a precious commodity.

Imagine how much the Goulburn residents would be willing to pay per litre, should they be guaranteed a futureproof supply?

WIN news just described the rise as an extra dollar per week per household. Not too much – although it is 10% of Peter Costello’s tax break of 10.00 per week that we are getting after June.

my precious, nasty fat hobbits, they steals it

our most precious maybe?
