A 29-year-old Hackett man was due to face court this morning over possession of stolen property and drugs after a tip-off alerted police to a man acting suspiciously, looking into Watson backyards.

Police patrolled Watson in response to the tip-off at around 9am yesterday and found a man matching the description provided.

The man was found in possession of a glass pipe and several zip lock bags containing a small amount of white crystalline substance suspected to be Methyl amphetamine and other items suspected to be stolen. Police seized the items.

The man was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House. He faces charges of possession of stolen property and a prohibited substance as well as resisting arrest.

ACT Policing thanked the member of the public for reporting the suspicious behaviour.

“The community is our eyes and ears. If you see someone acting suspiciously, we ask you to contact 131 444 for police assistance or report via Crime Stoppers,” Superintendent North District Cath Grassick said.

“This type of information greatly assists police to not only solve crime, but to prevent it as well”.

You can report suspicious activity to Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers website.

Police remind readers they should not report crime information via Facebook and Twitter.
