The National Capital Authority has released a draft management plan for Anzac Parade.

It seems all is not well with the blue gums and we’ll need a screen of Wattles to stop Campbell and Reid encroaching on ceremonial occasions until new trees grow.

Whatever they do the sooner they get started the sooner it will be fixed.

Isn’t the lifespan of a wattle only 10-15 years? I find them spindly and ugly – they’re not a patch on the majestic bluegums currently there.

I can see this announcement will go down like a lead balloon!

Sounds sensible to me. Blue gums (or whatever look-alike species was planted there) does well in much higher rainfall zones than the ACT with its paltry 650mm/year average (approx).
