We are not alone - but do we care?

Our Chief Mininster has put out a media release rejoicing that the Victorians have followed his leadership and introduced a Bill of Rights.

Chief Minister Jon Stanhope has welcomed news that Victoria has become the second Australian jurisdiction to introduce a Bill to enshrine human rights in law.

Until I can go to a court, prove my rights have been violated, and get a binding order to rectify it, it’s not a Bill of Rights. It’s a just a motherhood statement.

How about cheaper bananas?

How about a Bill of Responsibilities. So when the usual lame excuses for breaking the law are made, the court system can tell these losers to get bent.

ffs stanhope, don’t you yet understand that nobody gives a flying fuck

your human rights crap has as much relevance to the punters as a bicycle to a carp

Actually Jon, having been on several excursions around this fair city’s sumps and drainways with the AFP, I can vouch that the majority of the drains and runoffs for all of Canberra need to be desilted and cleaned out.

After that, there are great swathes of unmown verges, itself quite remarkable since it’s been so cold that the grass stopped growing about 2 months ago (so it hasn’t been mowed since at least then).

Jon, there’s a blocked stormwater sump on the corner of Marcus Clark and Alinga Street, and even though I called ACTEW about it on Monday, they haven’t got around to unblocking it yet.

Of course we care! It’s a lovely feeling to know that, if the government does something wrong it’ll be told that in court, and then continue doing it. It really makes the whole exercise feel worthwhile.
