If you re-scan your digital tuner you’ll notice that a new channel has popped up on number 88 here in Canberra.

It’s the eagerly anticipated “GO!”, operated by Channel Nine, which seem to be where they plan to put all the shows that might actually get me watching that network for more than local news.

From the blurb site:

GO! will be bringing the young, and young at heart, more choice and entertainment than ever before.

Typical programs on GO! will be favourites such as Gossip Girl, The Hills, FRINGE, Terminator – Sarah Connor Chronicles, Weeds, The Wire, Survivor, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, CSI and hit comedy series Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Later this year, GO! will broadcast the most anticipated new show of the US television season Vampire Diaries.

WooHoo Survivor!!!

what time is that on?

Working fine from here.

Old Chevy Chase movie showing right now.

pftt torrents is never free coz u have to pay for the bandwidth.

can anyone actually pick up channel 88? i could have sworn i had it 2 weeks ago before launch and it was just showing the same loop as channel 80. but now that 88 should be launched tonight i went to check it out but my tv is saying channel 88 does not exist. i have rescanned and got nothing new.

Torrents? That is what Free TV is right? ;p

Pandy, just buy the dvds or acquire some torrents. 😛

Jb, the Wire is fine, the final season is probably right up your alley, but as to it being new content, the finale aired in the US 18 months ago.

Go! (they could have thought of a better name?)

At least they didn’t call it iGo

Toyota have already done that, albeit with different spelling – Aygo.

I bought my DSTB for the Tour de Fance.

Is it a HD channel? It is not coming up on the rescan of my SD box but I could be doing something wrong. It does not seem to mention it being HD on the Go website though.

Go! (they could have thought of a better name?) is an SD channel, the HD channel is now just a loop (what’s changed?) of a message saying the HD channel will be back “very soon”. Given that WIN has been able to get the simulcast channel up and running at the same time as 9 launch, it makes you wonder what was so difficult for Southern Cross to do the same with One.

I think the sales of DSTB will begin to climb quickly now that there are actually alternative digital channels.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed Bannister has poster negative comment in almost every thread? Had a bad day Bannister or just trolling?

I am outraged by this.

Sounds like FOX8 for cheapskates. 😛

HD and Go are separate channels. The HD channel though has been taken of the air to be “rebuilt”. I would suspect that Go and WIn SD will be stand along channels and the HD channel will simulcast programs from each channel in HD at different times.

Also looks like Chuck – a pretty funny series will be shown at some stage….I’m kinda surprised no networks picked it up earlier.

What really surprises me is how quickley Ch 9 / Win have brought this new channel online – it was only announced a couple of months back and it’s up and running. Compare that with Channel 7 / Prime and 10 / Southern Cross’ efforts and it puts them to shame. (and I hate giving Win credit for anything. I believe their local news is still broadcast in 4×3 for most of Australia…)

I really need to get with the times and get digital TV stuffs… 😛

I’d be liking this channel I think, and I want Ch10 One for F1, hell I’d even like to be able to get ABC2 for when I miss Spicks and Specks.

The Wire is excellent: very good to see a channel in Australia showing it.

This popped up in my digital tuner the other day without any user intervention, but if that’s typical programming… oh dear.

WooHoo Survivor!!!

Weeds went wierd. I’d watch Curb Your Enthusiasm, the rest is crap.

More interested in The Wire and Weeds.

Wanting to watch The Bachelor and Bachelorette? Johnboy – that says so much about you….

Any word on whether TranAct TV will be carrying it?
