Johnboy iceblocking down Regatta Point

OK, we’ll keep this short.

With new investors on board and a substantial pay ride rise to entice the editor (me) back to the saddle we’re coming out of reduced operations.

Moderation will still be on so I can do things like sleep and go to the toilet. (Self indulgent I know but you’ll just have to deal with it.)

Lots more content, lots more news, lots more reasons to check the site several times a day.

Enjoy.

My only request is that you jump a bit more on some of the hostile responses to posts when it doesn’t add anything to the discussion.

I second this.

And glad you’re back.

Me three. Rowdy debate is fun, personal attacks not so much.

Better the devil we know. Welcome back.

Nice to hear.

I would be interested to hear where this funding is coming from though, under the auspices of transparent journalism.

Well I have to say this is very good news indeed, and almost makes up for my disappointment in Mully’s non-reappearance at Easter.

May the force be with you!

You can only come back as many times as John Farnham has done ‘last tours’ in Australia.

Great news JB. Good to have you back.

I hope that isn’t the first time you’ve ridden something frigid on Regatta Point…

How is your mother?

Welcome back.

It’d be nice if a substantial history of non-lawsuit-inducing comments could earn one an exemption from the mod queue.

Sadly caf, previous good behaviour has never been an indicator of suddenly going nana.

In fact the best indicator of impending insanity is protracted quality commenting.

So to slip under the radar one should be just a little unhinged at all times. I think I can do that.

Great news JB. Good to have you back.

Caf, CK & Mick, thats the next on my to do list.

YAY! Congratulations!

yay for return of JB 😀

Now if only the mob of pedantic and critical commenters would bugger off, we’d have ourselves a good site!

Hey I pay good money for moderation! I figure that seeing as I can’t trust myself not to post inapropriate sh!t on here, then the least I can do is subscribe so it helps cover the cost of others doing it for me.

Holden,

Marianne no longer works at 2XX. She’s been doing a puppetry course.

Will we see more puppetry?

Maybe that’s what the picture is of? Either that or a picture of his pay ride lol

The Professor6:13 pm 13 Apr 10

Good on ya John… So are we quiting our dayjob?

Did we ever have one?

Devil_n_Disquiz3:50 pm 13 Apr 10

Good news. Welcome back JB, and good luck 🙂

Holden Caulfield3:40 pm 13 Apr 10

Will we see a return to the 2XX slot? Is Marianne still around, anyway?

… and what on earth are you doing in that photo??

Riding an ice block down the regatta point hillside at twice the speed of sound of course!

Was it a frosty fruit or paddle pop ?

In all seriousness though – where would I get an iceblock big enough to sled down a slope ?

You make it yourself – freeze an oven tray full of water, after putting some rope into it to make handles to hang onto when sitting upright. Can also be used for steering.

Regular scouting event 🙂 Lots of fun. Watch out for the watery stop at the bottom if you’re not paying attention though.

YAY! I stopped coming here for a while after you left because the moderation thing took so long I got bored…zzzzz…it’s an age thing.

Great to have you back!

Congrats JB. You deserve it (actually, you probably deserve more).

Alright! It’s about time…

Excellent news. Good luck John.

Congrats on the behind the scenes wheeling and dealing.

Yay to having more regular and more on the pulse news again.

Boo to moderation queues, haha, but at least comments should get approved/rejected a bit quicker so we don’t end up with 5-10 replies saying the same thing.

Welcome back. Let’s get this party started.

I don’t always (often?) agree with you JB, but welcome back. You initiate a lot of discussion and occasionally even thought-provoking analysis.

My only request is that you jump a bit more on some of the hostile responses to posts when it doesn’t add anything to the discussion.

And enjoy your dunny breaks… As you get older, they become more important.

Reminds me of a song they used to sing …..

Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they’re turned around.
Who’d have thought they’d lead ya (Who’d have thought they’d lead ya)
Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)
Yeah we tease him a lot cause we’ve hot him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Good to have you back JB.

TTFFT which translates as ‘about bloody time’, welcome back.
If a substantial pay ride was all it took we could have all clubbed together ages ago to get you a ride on the Civic Merry Go Round every day 🙂

… and what on earth are you doing in that photo??

Congratulations…content has been a tad light on 🙂 Plenty of issues to riot over! The government plans to knock down all the old trees, ongoing attacks on the public housing stock in return for generous bribestaxes from the development lobby, the failure to provide alternative transport systems which leave everyone locked into car dependency – the list goes on. However there is always law and order to talk about…

…a substantial pay ride…

So no subbie then? Just like a REAL media company!

(I keed, I keed, nice to have you back etc)

🙂

as in good to compare….

Does this mean a return to teh monthly state of the riot posts ?

Good to see how far the site has come since last SOTR posting 🙂

Enough to put the full content back into the RSS feed? That is extremely frustrating the way it is now. Go back to the way it was!

Congrats Riotact and JB. This announcement reminds me of a quote Colourful Racing Identity put in the ‘Government Housing in Canberra’ discussion only recently:

btw: you’ll be back. no-one ever really leaves.

Isn’t a “pay ride” something provided by certain Fyshwick establishments? Presumably a “substantial pay ride” is a more specialised service performed by a plus-size provider.
Regardless, you will still need to include it in your FBT return.

Hells_Bells749:06 am 13 Apr 10

Sweet!

Not that I need encouraging. I love it all.
