Simon Corbell has announced that you should all be wearing orange tomorrow.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Simon Corbell, today called on Canberrans to show their support for the ACT State Emergency Service (ACT SES) tomorrow (12 November) by taking part in the annual ‘Wear Orange To Work Day’.

“This is a great opportunity for the ACT community to thank the Territory’s SES volunteers for their continued dedication to keeping our community safe,” Mr Corbell said.

“I encourage all Canberrans to make something orange part of their outfit when getting dressed for work tomorrow,” he said.

I recommend the lovely RiotACT pin, free with a premium membership.

If, on the other hand, you’re just wearing orange we’d love to see pictures. Email them in to images@the-riotact.com

It depends if I am being a Madonna or a whore that day, usually!

*chuckle*

Oh I always respect them poptop – just not always the morning after 😛

I do respect them, especially in black shirts with orange ties.

: )

Ladies, these men are human being with real feelings! You should respect them.

BTW – What is the male equivalent of the Madonna/whore thing?

I also think orange ties on black shirts are sexy!

: )

What a shallow genderist comment! You may need to be punished.

@Skid – I’ve got to say, I think orange ties on black shirts are one of the sexiest things I’ve seen on a guy. I don’t know, I think it’s a combination of the colours as well as the fact that the guy has the balls to wear it 🙂

Hope there are plenty out there like me, and it’s a hit with the laydeez for you 😛

I used to own an orange shirt that I would drag out every March 17th, but nobody ever bit.

You’re lucky you didn’t get glassed by some ultra-Republican! Meself, I always have a hard time when the World and Europe Cups are on and I want to support me two favourite teams (after the Socceroos, of course). When Oireland and the Netherlands are still in, I have to be choosin’ between the orange and the green.

Orange the ultimate fashion nightmare? It’s my freaking favourite colour… damn it.

Gotta feel sorry for the Hari Krisna’s & the Dutch then!

I think it sounds fantastic!

: )

mrs peterh made sure all my old garish ties have been binned or burned. the orange shirt went after a night on the turps – I couldn’t stand to look at it…

I wear an orange tie on a black shirt occasionally. Or an orange tie on a deep red shirt.
But then again, I am generally a fashion nightmare.

I used to own an orange shirt that I would drag out every March 17th, but nobody ever bit.

Just send in the photos

For some people, it is dangerous to handle or use anything sharper than an orange.

So the pin might be out.

Orange doesn’t work for me. It makes me look all washed out. All power to the SES volunteers, but I just can’t do orange. Will Simon wear orange ?

It’s a great colour for radio. Adds an extra degree of dazzle that makes the other colours just pale by comparison.

I wondered about that, assuming it was them when I saw the headline.

Then I thought maybe someone was thinking of showing support for the Netherlands tilt (pun intended) at the 2010 World Cup…

Wear orange hey? The Harmony Day folks will be most upset.

Just decided to reread the old thread, as the memory was blury…

From the original RiotPin thread:

Overheard: Prince Albert, anyone?!

Johnboy: Make sure you send in the photograph. Not for publication as much as for amusement.

Which actually makes it seem even more bizarre, Jb. 😛

The riotpin is a versatile and useful thing but any RiotAlberts are best kept in the privacy of the bedroom.

Using the pin to secure oranges to one’s body however will secure bonus points if done tomorrow.

If someone -did- do the RiotAlbert, does it get published (for pints from the readership), or issuch a shameless plug only redeemable for free pints from the Cabal at Riot events?

I tossed around…. Let me start that again. I canvassed the idea of the RiotACT pin Prince Albert, but went with the ear-ring look instead. (On one of the Sim Challenge slideshows.)

Didn’t you want somone to use the Riotpin for something else a while back too?

Pictures of readers wearing naught but oranges are especially encouraged.

Or if you don’t have any orange clothes, you could just wear an orange.

This might be a covert Orangemen show of support, of course.
