Wedding cars - thankfully not in Canberra

Wedding cars - thankfully these ones are not in Canberra

I am looking for cars for a wedding, and all I can seem to find in the ACT are 300C’s, old stretch limo’s and that disgusting stretch hummer.

What I am actually after is either something Italian (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati) or an Aston Martin of any age. Will also consider any other really interesting cars that are out there.

The cars only need to fit one person each as there are no groomsmen/bridesmaids.

Can anyone provide me with some leads??

cartdog I spit on your suggestion of the 120Y. Cheapscate! The 180B has 60 more mistakes for about the same money, but why spot there. For a little extra you could have a top of the range 200B complete with 20 additional factory optioned problems.

Aston Martin UK7:41 am 11 Feb 10

This maybe of some help to anyone travelling to the UK to be married, we have provided services for a few couples from Australia and New Zealand already.

We offer an Aston Martin DB7 GT. Very rare with only 190 in the whole world. Records show that only 1 exists in Australia.

At last count 80 were left in the UK, with ours being the only one for hire!

Also it is finished in a unique colour for an Aston Martin, painted at the Aston Factory during assembly in Ferrari Canna di Fucile Metallico, which is roughly translated into Gun Metal Grey Metallic.

This car is available to couple getting married in the Northwest UK, such as Lancashire, Cheshire and The Lake District National Park.

Prices from £299 sterling (GBP).

We also offer Aussie couples getting wed in the UK other services such as buffet, lighting and DJ at http://www.headlineweddingservices.co.uk

I hope this helps someone in the future who might be getting married in the Northwest UK.

Wedding cars from the Classic and Vintage Car Company, it can help find the best car for your wedding. see term papers for more info….

@gnomnamne (#14) – That’s a good point. I only did a few weddings with my car and as such was happy to decline monetary payment for compensation in kind to a similar value. Grog, cleaning gear, etc.

Back in the early 70s, my dad bought one of the American Embassy’s whopping great Chevrolets – one of only 6 in the country I recall.

As it was black, he got hired for the odd wedding, but also for heaps of funerals.

He got sick of funerals so had it painted white – weddings from then on…

Did I say it was huge? On long trips (in pre-seatbelt days) we three kids slept across the back – one across the floor, one across the seat and the other across (you guessed it) the rear sill.

Alas it cracked the block on a trip to Qld, and being so rare there was no chance of affordable repairs. A Kingswood station wagon replacement was a major step down…

A word of caution to anyone with a nice car who might want to pick up a few bucks. You’ll need to get your insurance policy altered to include the fact that you’re operating a car for monetary gain for that event. No big deal for them, you can get cover for something like 5 weekends a year. After that you need to become a hire car business with a whole lot of other expenses.

The exact details might depend on your insurance company.

When I has a suitable car for such things it didn’t work out as a viable proposition. By the time you spend a couple of hours cleaning your car and paying for extra insurance you don’t make very much if you charge a reasonable price for the event.

The 1934 Packard is a beautiful machine!

The cars only need to fit one person each as there are no groomsmen/bridesmaids.

I find it unusual that you would consider a newly wed couple leaving their ceremony or wedding in separate cars, but whatever floats your boat.

Speaking as someone who has provided a wedding car via a similar method, if the owner agrees but doesn’t want to put ribbon on the front, then leave it be. I had fine micro scratches on my bonnet courtesy of the ribbon which I wasn’t overly happy with, haha.

Good luck, and congrats!

I am not planning on destroying the look of a supercar with a ribbon.

Thanks for the tips guys, I will hit up some of the car clubs and see if I get find what we want.

Whenever the Battle of Waterloo show or British car shows are on there is usually some lovely old Astons with local reg. Similarly when Auto Italia is on there’s always some great old Italian cars around with local plates. So, the good news is there should be some good choices for you, you’ll just need to track down the owners.

I would suggest looking for more info via one of the local car clubs (I think the Shannons website might have a list of clubs). With any luck you’ll have success and the owners will come to the party for you.

We used A1 classic cars for our wedding, we had the 1934 Packard, very good service, highly recommended.

When is the Wedding?

if it a fair way off, come to auto italia in mid April, plenty of exotics out with car clubs you could maybe chat to?

its amazing what google shows when you type in ‘hummer’

If you can’t find a Ferrari, I’ve got a mate with a neat Datsun 120Y who could help you out… next best thing really.

These cars are not really what you are looking for. Just plugging it anyway, the website is run by a local business owner.

I have no idea where to look, but I know a range of interesting old “done up cars” appear each year outside school formals, so there are definitely people out there who perform that service.

I might suggest some of the local speciality car clubs? They might know who would be interested in getting the car out of the garage for a few hours work.

i used performance wedding cars as above. they had a range of old Mustangs, HSVs, etc. Not sure if they have access to any Lambos or Ferraris as there are not many in Canberra, but cant hurt to try.

Tried the obvious – A1 (http://www.a1cars.net.au/car.htm) and Performance Wedding Cars (http://www.pwcars.com.au/car_range.htm)?

You’d want to have your wedding in Sydney if you’re after something like that, unless you can find a one of the few private citizens in the ACT that drive such vehicles.

Arrive by helicopter 🙂 probably cheaper than the car hire people anyway 🙂
