Silver Fox Bar and Grill is one of those restaurants that constantly pops up on my Facebook news feed and the posts look so delicious. Believe it or not, I actually have a list of restaurants I want to eat at on my phone and when I’m stuck for ideas or looking for something new, I turn to my list. Last weekend I was looking for somewhere new for breakfast; it was a choice between Silver Fox in Curtin and Fox and Bow in Farrer. As I live in the city it really came down to what was closer, which is Silver Fox.

I have previously been to this beautiful establishment which was once a house, formerly Delissio. I think it’s a wonderful set up; it is absolutely stunning inside. Who turns a house into a restaurant?! Genius!

The restaurant was weirdly quiet, with maybe two other couples having breakfast. We looked over the menu which I’d consider to be small, however, you can order sides which basically gives you the freedom to create your own dish.

Both Mike and I decided to order the Mexican beans with cured pork belly and poached eggs, served with a side of toast ($15). Our meals came out quickly and they were very well presented. I did add salt to perk up the flavours a little bit and once I did, I very much enjoyed the dish. I actually can’t fault it. Coffee was also good, as was the service.

The only thing I was put off by was the lack of atmosphere; when I go out to eat, it’s mostly to people watch and converse over a meal that I can’t easily make at home. Silver Fox did provide a nice meal but the atmosphere was really lacking on my visit and it is a very dark venue. It is possibly better suited to a dinner spot. In saying this, I have friends who eat there for dinner regularly and they absolutely love it so I’m still open to this venue being a winner and will have to go back for lunch or dinner before making up my mind.

Silver Fox Bar and Grill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Wednesday to Saturday, lunch and dinner Tuesday and Sunday and breakfast and lunch on Sundays. They also offer take away options.

Menus can be found online, which I personally think is wonderful. It means you can decide what you’re going to eat before you get there!

Silver Fox is located at 83 Theodore Street, Curtin.

It was never a house, it was the Corner Store.

It used to be a mini-market originally

Mini market?

It was a milk bar and then a local takeaway back in the day.

I remember the Silver Fox site as a mini-mart too, in the 1970s, when it was known as the Curtin Corner Store.

I’m looking forward to the review of Fox and Bow. We ate there on the weekend and thought it was pretty impressive.

Am I the only one who constantly confuses Silver Fox with Fox and Bow in Farrer??

I’ve had really good food at Silver Fox, but I completely agree about the quiet atmosphere! I’ve only been there for breakfast and lunch though, so perhaps it’s different during the dinner service when (I assume) things are busier.

Silver Fox is just down the road from my parents’ place and my Dad and his mates go there for pizza all the time – apparently the pizzas are great.

I actually confuse the two myself however, this weeks review will be on Fox and Bow and trust me, they are very very different! Make sure you check it out.

LOVE Fox and Bow. Looking forward to hearing your verdict too.

Do you mean it has no blaring music playing, if so, I must go and try it as I cannot stand loud noise.

Me neither. But its last incarnation (Belluccis?) was very “clattery,” hard furnishings, open kitchen, next table’s conversation when I was there.
