public service

Here’s a bit of fun that should resonate with Canberrans. A handy 3-part comic guide to working in the public service.

And just in time for the flood of public service graduates rolling into town!

I wish I’d read this before trying out life in the public service…

I bet here’s some sort of investigation somewhere into the origins of this.

Don’t worry fellas, where it counts the boys are still well and truly in charge

Yeah, cause PM&C is controlled by a male… Wait…

Sadly for the women of the world it is going to take a long time for the make up of the workforce to reflect changes in social acceptance which have and are still occurring. But even in a workforce without a hint of gender bias, there will always be differences due to the different biological roles played by men and women.

Well, maybe not if we ban breeding, and maintain the countries population entirely with adult immigration.

Wait wait wait

Women are allowed to be the boss!?!?

We don’t even let them drive….
Hahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Funny that, busgirl, the last agency I worked in only had two women in the top 3 levels (about 15 people), although the (lowly) majority was 60% female. Come to think of it, they had a kinda haunted look too … I keep hearing about this feminist mafia but never came across it in the 3 Departments I worked in. Maybe because 2 were central agencies (PM&C, Finance) and the last, which will remain nameless, had a heavy policy and technical orientation. Not a lot of women at the top in Treasury either.

Don’t worry fellas, where it counts the boys are still well and truly in charge.

“The boys club is well and truly gone. Replaced by the very powerful sisterhood these days.”

….hmmmm interesting…perhaps it’s just the Tax Office then…

BerraBoy68 and georgesgenitals that is so true. It’s very disillusioning to see it happen time and time again. And dare I say it…the ‘boys club’ is still alive and well in the APS.

Not so much in Health. Here, the few males in senior positions have a constants haunted caste to their eye…

“One thing I’ve seen time and a time again in the APS across several Departments and agencies, and am still seeing (sadly), is incompetant people being promoted over more experienced and skilled people due to:

a) close personal rewlationships with the boss; and
b) being a ‘yes’ man who is too scared to stand up to poor decision makers and/or leaders”

c) a person being given a great reference for promotion so the current team can get rid of them.

Really funny, I laughed out loud. It’s so TRUE. That’s what makes it good. Especially liked the chutes and ladders takeoff.

The comic should have a chapter dealing with this, after all… if you don’t laugh about it, you’d cry!

Fiona said: “How far away from the building do you have a go to smoke these days?”

If you work for Health, you need to be wherever the Secretary can’t see you.

It’s funny because it’s true.

@ Fiona. 10 Metres from any door opening and aircon vents.
Not that anyone seems to listen to it.

Shmeh. Second rate humour to be honest. If they’d gone to the trouble of putting that together, they could have actually squeezed a few laugh-out-loud jokes.

Points for trying I suppose.

Ha ha, the removing the heart is the best part.

@Fiona…. About 15 years back I think….

How far away from the building do you have a go to smoke these days?

Ahhhhh. Someone as cynical simultaneously horrified by the moral vacuum of the public service. So refreshing.

That is very cool, I enjoyed that!

Brilliant! Very first-dog-on-the-moon-esque.

Hahahahaha
