Canberra’s really matching it with the big boys now.

It seems we may have our own home-grown carjackers.

A similar incident was discussed on another (car enthusiast) forum i visit.

The linked article is a bit short on detail – I’m assuming it’s not a car-jacking becuase the owner wasn’t in the car at the time – it’s more an armed robbery at someone’s house (or, as Today Tonight like to call it, a “Home Invasion”), where, as well as nicking some jewelry and other valuables, the thief nicked the car.

Car-jacking applies to instances where you’re driving in your car, and a person comes up next to you, turfs you out of your car, and drives off with it. A La Grand Theft Auto.

Is that correct?

Not a car jacking

Sorta related to the theme of idiots with guns (thankfully most firestick weilders be good citizens) – do you think the police will ever catch (or try to) the invertebrate imbeciles that shoot holes in the traffic signs? (just take a look along the parkway and kinsford smith for example(s))
I’m sure people driving around with loaded shotties and using them in built up areas doesn’t concern our Plods at all tho. So long as they don’t speed while firing out the car window that is…

expect to see more of this as kiddies get the shits trying to phone for a cab using the loony system of voice recognition

Get a dog up ya DT, it’s tongue-in-cheek.

I am yet to decide if it was a car jacking, or if the bloke got too tired to walk home after a home invasion… A collection of jewellery and taking a car would indicate;
a) an 1997 Audi is a caravan
b) the victim was either a trannie or a jewellery maker,.

Please don’t perpetuate this mass media fear factory bullshit. Yes it was a crime. But saying we’re “matching it with the big boys now”, on the basis of a single crime, is something of an exaggeration worthy only of a gutter-rag like the Tele.

And besides, the phrase “New Jack” has nothing to do with carjacking.

I hope they put this piece of shit away for a long time. Canberra doesn’t seem to have the same level of this type of crime as other cities, and that’s the way I likes it!
