A mother with a blood-alcohol limit almost five times the legal limit and a male on his second alleged drink-driving offence were detected by ACT Policing yesterday (Wednesday, March 30).
The 47-year-old Charnwood mother was seen driving erratically by members from Tuggeranong Station on the Tuggeranong Parkway about 2:35pm.
Police unsuccessfully attempted to conduct a traffic stop at the Glenloch Interchange and a second patrol, from Belconnen Police Station, was called in to assist.
The woman was eventually pulled over almost two kilometres from where police activated their lights and sirens. She underwent breath analysis at Belconnen Police Station and returned a Blood-Alcohol Concentration (BAC) result of 0.247. The woman stated to police that she was on her way to collect her children from school.
In a second incident, a member of the public was concerned at a possibly intoxicated man about to drive a car and reported this to police.
A short time later police stopped a 60-year-old Holt man who returned a positive roadside screening and was taken to City Police Station where he returned a positive reading of 0.139.
This is particularly concerning as this incident occurred about 9.46am.
He was found to be driving on a suspended licence, having been issued an Immediate Suspension Notice by police for an alleged drink-driving offence earlier this month.
Both alleged offenders will be summonsed to court on drink-driving charges, with the male to also answer a charge of driving while licence suspended.
