By johnboy - 19 October 2012 0

ACT Fire & Rescue is responding to reports of a ruptured gas pipeline on Hilda Kincaid Crescent in West McGregor.

Update to follow.

The gas pipeline was ruptured by a contractor working at the front of a house being constructed.

The pipeline caught alight and is currently burning several metres from the front of a house being constructed.

Firefighters have wet down the front of the building and imposed a 200 metre exclusion zone as a precaution.

A small number of construction workers have been evacuated as part of the exclusion zone.

10:37am Friday 19 Oct 2012

Gas contractors have turned off supply to the pipeline and the fire extinguished.

No injuries have been reported.

The exclusion zone has been lifted.
