I was just wondering what happened to The Hub Asian groceries?

Both shops from Gunghulin and Belconnen area were closed almost a month ago now.

The next thing i saw from the Belconnen grocery, the business is on lease.

I love The Hub, it’s loaded with choices and diverse asian flavours!

Does anyone know of another place that makes the Banh Mi style pork rolls?

If you ever end up in Moruya on the south coast there is a bakery across the road from the woollies that does an all right pork roll, they don’t use fresh chilli which is the only disaster.

Kevin 22 – yes you are a troublemaker. I actually know the owners quite well and you obviously have no idea what you are talking about and should maybe mind your own business!!

Go and get a life I say and maybe find something better to do then post untrue information on the net – trouble maker no 1 (and loser!!).

The status Troublemaker is given according to how many comments you’ve made. You obviously don’t know this because you’re a newbie.
Beside its people business to know this, since the question was asked.

I hope they are sold as a going concern or in some manner the owners sort it out. We have shopped there regularly for the last few years to get things no where else seems to stock. Real pity.

I liked shopping at the Hub as its range was much wider than other smaller Asian groceries. They also stocked other Asian cuisines, such as Filipino, that other Asian grocers dont. The fresh pork buns were excellent also. I hope the stores, or at least one of them, are sold as a going concern.

In fact the Hub is a lot cheaper than the other Asian grocery markets, well at least for food items that i always buy. I hope there will be good investors out there. I still prefer the variety in Hub than others.

Simple answer, BANKRUPT.

Not sure if its related, but on a coast trip a couple of years ago, I pulled into Nelligen to see The Hub van pulling a nice fishing boat up the boatramp. They obviously cant have been making too much of a loss, or maybe they spent all their time at the coast once the money was good.

Yes, that was the good time when business is booming.
Currently the bank is trying to sell the business.

Its gone. Build a bridge and get over it.

That seems unnecessarily rude.

In Tuggers, the little asian take-away directly opposite Ojo’s is selling pork rolls now, same price as the Hub at $5

The cafe/bakery in Newcastle street fyshwick next to Clarks rubber $4.50. close your eyes and you’re in saigon without the sewer smell and the you buy you buy you buy ringing in your ears

Does anyone know of another place that makes the Banh Mi style pork rolls?

There was a sign in the front window of the Belconnen one saying that it was closed indefinately.

It’s been gone from Tuggers for ages as well. Such a shame.

This was previously discussed here: http://the-riotact.com/?p=25523

Its gone. Build a bridge and get over it. Angkor Wat in belconnen has extended and is very good.

Simple answer, BANKRUPT.
Ok here is a bit of a history about HUB.
The first shop opened in Gungahlin. The business in gungahlin is doing quite well. So the owner decided to open another 2 shop in Tuggeranong and Belconnen.
About a year later, the Tuggeranong closed down, which left with Gungahlin and Belconnen.
Now, both store closed down because the business has gone bankrupt.

The reason for the business failure because:
1. Why would you open 2 store at the same time? shouldn’t you just open one at a time and sees how it goes.
2. In Belconnen, there is already 3-5 Asian Groceries store in the area and they’re much cheaper and provide a much more friendly experience.
3. HUB sell everything expensive, it almost twice as expensive as the other Asian Groceries in the area. The reason for this is because HUB is leasing in an area that is high in rent.
