Does anyone know if the Moonlight party bus is still running or what happened to it?

I recenly went back to Canberra and looking to have another wild time on the bus but couldn’t find it.

That bus was an institution there!

Hope it hasn’t finished…

Hey all, the Moonlight Stretch Limo is now in town! Yep, the infamous “Moonlight” is back -Craig and all. If you’ve been around town over the past week or so, you may have spotted it. It’s a 63 seater (37 standing) “limo” with a twist – check on their Facebook page for some great shots and launch competition. Awesome music, lights and fun on board and even the champagne has gone upmarket!
So if you’re in the market for some fun and maybe relive some of those memories but on a bus that doesn’t break down, give us a call: 040 55 LIMO or Facebook (Moonlight Stretch Limo) or our website which will be up and working in a few days… http://www.moonlightstretchlimo.com.au

talk about a coincidence…I used to use the Moonlight Party Bus for Bucks parties run from paintball. Craig no longer runs it as mentioned above,
so I have gone freelance and have just purchased a bus and painted it…..hot pink 🙂 because people still want a bus for this purpose…and will be calling it the Pink Party Bus…not very original but works..unfortunately only a single decker but it is licensed to take 69 passengers and rego’d as of last week. TV and drink storage etc going in this week.. so if anyone is interested feel free to ring me on 0419 267792.

Otherwise, keep an eye out for the Pink Party Bus :). Craig set the benchmark, we will try not to let him down!

He certainly is manlyferry. I had a drink with him a few weeks ago.

Do you know how I can contact him?

Ahh the singles party night at the Labour club, fond memories, he used to play that every time without fail & fill the floor.

That and ‘Venus’ by Bananarama- a DJ staple.

Do they still run? The singles nights, I mean. What does a single person over 35 do in Canberra these days? Where do they go out?

For those of you with a good memory, Craig was the DJ at the Labor Club singles nights on Fridays back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Unfortunately the clown who runs the Galaxy DJs also worked at the Labor club. He’s probably why the Labor club Friday nights went down the drain.

Seems like he is a fun guy. Is he still around?

Yep, you got the colours right manlyferry. I spent many a wild night with Craig on the Moonlight Bus, even worked on it as a ‘host’. Lotsa fun and crazy stories, miss it heaps, but all good things …

Craig was trying to get hold of another bus to keep it all going but I believe the logistics didn’t come up favourably.

The only negative was the hangovers from that cheap champagne

Passion Pop, wasn’t it???? Or something equally as nasty. I reckon we should lobby Craig for a return bus.

Let’s do a survey on how many would want the bus back. For those teeny boppers who don’t know what the Moonlight Bus was: the bus used to pick party goers up from their homes, take them around a series of different pubs/nightclubs around town, Belconnen, Manuka etc (from memory???) and drop them home again. And feed them cheap champagne in between bars. Great night out, heaps of places to go to (not just Civic) and no worrying about getting home. And best part of it? If you met a drop kick at one of the bars, you had the best excuse ever not to stay!!!!

Isnt it out at the storage place next to where the Mitchell Fire was ?? I have not been out that way for a while – but I know it was being stored there for a long time ??
I think it has been close to 10 years since it was on the road (running or broken down) ??

Could be you’re getting mixed up here. There was the Pink Party Bus, which was the one level bus (help me here on specs….and about a decade or more ago) and then there was the double decker bus (yellow?????) that was the Moonlight Bus. There was one here in Sydney too but not so sure it was related.

A mate of mine, Craig, is the owner of it and yes it’s no longer in operation. He used to turn up at Bobby McGees for an hour or so on his way to Manuka. I used toget on and get a lift out there and then come back into Civic when the bus came back. Good fun.

It broke down… a lot.

AFAICR it closed-down some time ago (Like, maybe a decade ago?).

Can’t have been that long ago. It was only about 2.5-3 years since I was on it. Hey, the bus may have broken down a couple of times but let me tell you, the partying didn’t! Or what I can remember of it anyway…

We were having a good laugh the other night when my girlfriend reminded me of another time we were on the Moonlight Bus on the way into Civic from Belco when the bus stopped and you wouldn’t believe it, the Moonlight Bus (MB) guys hailed down an Action Bus and 40 of us hopped on (p*ssed as….) and got a lift into town to Shooters Bar. The MB guys came in later to pick us up….(by then we were even p*sseder…). Back on the MB again then on to the Holy Grail in Kingston….or so they tell me that was where we went…. Oh, what a night!!!!!!!!!!!!

There must be a million similar stories out there about the MB, given all the years it was around.

I’m sure it was (or one similar) sitting at the storage place in Mitchell for the longest time – couldn’t tell you if it was still there.

This & when I was working at Rego he could not get it through for various reasons. I think he may have just given up. It was so old that bus that it needed to be placed in a museum 🙂
