Has anyone else read Jessica Good’s latest column in the City News? And if so, can you please explain to me what she is meant to be saying? I saw it at lunch the other day and I’m still scratching my head, thought wind seemed pretty important.

And what is wind burn?

[ED – I for one would like to congratulate the CityNews team for the amazing feat of capturing a fart in print. And Jessica Good’s fart no less. Who’d have thought she had it in her?]

/me looks around for Ged. Surely there’s an opening here for him to start in on the Herman’s Hermits thing again?

Rainy days and mondays always get me down..

Thumper and Dan, you crack me up. And JB’s emo segue… People in my office looking at me wondering why I’m laughing…
PS: please don’t take up songwriting – we already had the Carpenters … m’kay?

When it comes to crap writing, it’s clear there is a Battle of the Blondes in this town.

Let’s hope that blonde airhead off 106 never commits anything to print. Does she just act dumb or do you think she really IS dumb?

misspris she really is that dumb. Do you remember when she said on air Ngunnawal but pronounced it as Gunnawal? And that was this year!

Maybe if she didn’t go out on the ‘champers’ every night, as she calls it, she would have more brain cells and be able to hold an intelligent conversation. Actually I take that back. Maybe she’d be able to say one sentence without exploding into her stupid raucous laughter.

Worst thing Mix 106 ever did was employ her.

…I wonder what she’ll be wearing on the news tonight?

Frump is as frump does. Can’t write, can’t dress.

…is it true her middle names are ‘I’m Not Very’?

I’m glad it wasn’t just me who was alarmed.

In the poetic spirit of this thread, here’s a haiku on the subject;

Windy capital
blowing through newsreader’s pen
all is confusion

When it comes to crap writing, it’s clear there is a Battle of the Blondes in this town.
I would like a refund on my previous comments re: the Peter Leonard Scholarship. It is clear that this town has a shortage of talented journalists (they all leave; only the bravest return;) and it would be Good if Jessica could have access to such an edumacation.
OR maybe she should just stick to what she does best (news) rather than trying to put her nicely manicured fingers in all the pies and our local media could hire some real talent based on merit.

the wind – it changes
other stuff also changes
hang on, where was I?

Give her a break, she was probably aiming to match the type of content usually found in that publication.

I’d caution a guess that ole’ Jess had just done a good 2 or 3 lines of coke before scribbling down that little gem. Or, maybe she’s just dating DMD, I hear she likes kids to do night filling at Woolies!?

Okay, okay, I can have that one.

I did quit and go back to study, though…

Thanks for laying the carpet dad!
Thanks for showing us how!
But what’s that lump in the middle?
And why does it go “meow”?

(with apologies to Raymond J. Bartholomeuz)

Mum said it was sleeping,
She lied!
She lied!

deep undercover JB – i’m am operative.

Either that or showing how pathetically easy it is to mimic emo band lyrics.

I take it you two are lining up with the emos tonight then?

Oh oh give me a go at that thumper….

I Call this one “Canberra”

The night falls with a silent sigh, Soul less are we.
The salvation for which you lust Flares once, then dies,
Smothered by the all-encompassing dark.

All hope must surely perish.

Your heart desires no more.
How could you tear us asunder?
Lost souls surround us, crying, Sanctuary.

Around, All around, the dark memories gather.
My dread grows as the dagger of your words falls against my naked soul.
It smites me, And darkly my essence drips to the swirling dust

In numbness I call your name while oblivion takes my unwilling hand.
Now alone, my soul falls upon bleeding eyes.

I wonder what would happen if you tried to read that while on acid.

Is this the same chick of the “What is she wearing tonight?” thread?

“As the wind storm howled through the capital…”

Ranks right up there with “It was a dark and stormy night…” 😉

She must have a dictionary comprising only of verbs

Surprised there was no braaps, poots or pffts in there

Johnboy can you explain the fart reference please?

In my opinion the writing stank, and was windy.

Johnboy can you explain the fart reference please?

In the article (which I found difficult to read because it’s so amazingly bad) she refers to changing state and Federal governments.
There’s been one state government change within the last five years. And that was in Perth, about as far from here as it could be. There hasn’t been a more stable period, in terms of governmental change, since Federation.
She’s an idiot.

I think the Government wasn’t the only one taking a “big swig” Jessica..

Good grief.
Is it a piece about the economy, the government, the opposition, the drought, the ful companies, or the weather?

I guess there’s good money in writing copy for her at WIN?
(and if there isn’t, ask for more money now, Mr Copywriter. The story is out, so run with it…)

I saw her in town recently. TV really does add 10kgs.

Loquaciousness10:32 am 02 Oct 08

Oh my. The horrid habit of using groan-worthy puns in headlines seems to have extended to the whole article. Farewell, clarity in journalism – what little you had was good while it lasted.
