What Simon learned on his holidays - We want to be like a city with a light rail system, only without one

The Canberra Times gives Simon Corbell enough rope to hang himself as he describes the wonderful time he had in Oregon, joining the public transport Haj to “Portland a modern-day Mecca for public transport gurus.”

Try out this for failed reasoning:

Mr Corbell said Canberra was in a similar position to where Portland was 20 years ago and, with the exception of rail and light rail, the ACT Government was focused on similar policy areas.

Great, we’re going to be just like them only without the bits that make it work.

Count me in!

Samuel

1) When does the next MLA fly out on a taxpayer funded holiday?

2) Who’s with me?

Well, sounds suitably vile to throw at these purveyors of lies and extortionate revenue demands. That leaves only two questions;

1)

I used junket for some kind of science experiment in high school. Can’t remeber what the experiment was anymore, but i always remember our teacher telling us junket was basically baby spew and is extracted from the stomachs of calves.

Yummy.

Making “Junket” is simple just add Junket tablets, aquired from the supermarket, to milk and then put it in the fridge. It sets like jelly.

What is this ‘junket’ milk based dessert and where do I acquire some? I’ve never heard of ‘junket’ (other than the MLA type), but the prospect of such an apt act of social vandalism makes me grin.

Definately, but hit him only with junket. (The milk based dessert). I can’t wait for the headlines.

Fair call seepi; I think we should get out there with the placards and rotten fruit every time an MLA heads off on a junket.

And he is planning to go back next year for another nice trip. Presumably to learn what Canberra will look like in 21 years – only without sustainable public transport.
Why do we put up with this?
Anyone want to protest at the airport next time he flies out on a junket?
