What the F* 'appened to our sodding Tori Concert?

First we had the exciting news that Tori Amos was going to play a Canberra show on her Australian show.

Then confused reports started coming in that the concert had been “moved” to Sydney but that Canberra fans would have a special preferential opportunity to get Sydney tickets.

So what happened?

Well, the Tori go-to site The Dent has a short item, which inlcudes a link to the Sydney Opera House website which in turn makes this amazing statement:

Due to overwhelming demand the Tori Amos concert originally scheduled at Canberra Theatre Centre has been moved to the Sydney Opera House on Saturday 14 May.

Overwhelming demand in Canberra?? Pigs Arse! It’s not like there aren’t venues of a similar size in Canberra if they had a mind either (albeit not with the quality).

Will Canberra ever see a major act again? I’ve attempted to contact both the Promoter and artist management (via the label) for comment but have yet to receive any reply to my very polite inquiries.

you miss the point,

a) this is a very high income 300,000. equivalent to a much larger city of scum

b) we used to attract world class acts

c) they promoted a show here, then backslided. In the absence of media comment (on request) one wonders if this was “bait and switch”

Population 280,000… get used to it Canberra is a backwater and will reamin that way until we have a decent population.

JB open those little eyes and look around. You will only see 300.000 of us. If you are looking for a reason why we don’t get high ticket item acts here look no more.
If only we had 4,000,000. mmmm maybe not 300k looks good from here.

crapness…

worse than just missing out, we had something and they took it away.

This really, really sucks. As a long time Tori fan I am very disappointed, and very unhappy that once again Canberra is missing out on the major concert circuit.

So much for the National Capital!!

what, so there’s no major act that you’ll ever want to see?

because if it becomes standard practice to use Canberra as a fall back position we’re all going to get pretty upset.
