Do you get excited about the idea of Canberra becoming a completely sustainable city?

Do you want to do something but you’re not sure what?

Come and be part of the solution

SEE-Change is following up on last year’s beginnings and starting an active Southside SEE-Change group.

To kick things off, on Tuesday 4th August 2009 Prof Will Steffen, Executive Director of ANU’s Climate Change Institute, will give a short talk entitled “Meeting the Climate Change Challenge: A Vision for Canberra and the Region”.

Prof Bob Douglas AO will present his vision of a carbon-neutral Canberra, then lead a brainstorming session about what we can do to assist the government in meeting its climate change and sustainability goals, at the same time fostering stronger communities.

Cutting edge approach

Please join us and other Southside residents in a cutting-edge approach to achieving these goals.

When: 6.30pm, Tuesday, 4th August 2009
Where: Manning Clark House, 11 Tasmania Circuit, Forrest

Light dinner provided RSVP Susan Butler, development@see-change.org.au or 0428 811 675 www.see-change-org.au

HenryBrontosaurusGroper have you been talking to dinosaurs again? If it wasn’t for climate change, dinosaurs would still rule the world. Would they have to pay Carboniferous Tax?

What will a carbon-neutral Canberra look like? About the same as the Greens election result!

How Canberran

Hey guys, just thought I’d flag this as thought some people here in this forum might be interested.

The Bally is an artistic social enterprise supporting established and emerging artists, that tours around Australia performing at a number of arts and music festivals.

We want to make the Bally a completely solar powered, carbon neutral touring arts venue.

Bicycles, and pulling down the outer suburbs, Gov house and centralizing the city around the lake.
Then everyone can feel good about living here.

Oh look over there, some paint’s drying.

And what is meant by ‘carbon neutral’ – are you referring to carbon dioxide? If so, why would you want to neutralise that seeing it’s a trace gas essential for all life on earth?

“Come and be part of the solution” – to what problem?

no-one mentioned ‘neutralising’, toad. a car ‘in neutral’ isn’t in anyway ‘neutralised’…

sounds like you need to go along, you have so much to find out…

What is meant by sustainable? What are you trying to sustain?

And what is challenging about climate – we all know it changes, has been doing that for millions of years – cooler, warmer, whatever?

And what is meant by ‘carbon neutral’ – are you referring to carbon dioxide? If so, why would you want to neutralise that seeing it’s a trace gas essential for all life on earth?

“Come and be part of the solution” – to what problem?

‘Fostering stronger communities’ – what’s that got to do with the weather.

Please explain!
