What will the Raiders do to top dwarf lighting?

Previously the one trophy the Raiders were hanging onto was “most off the hook mad monday” thanks to the legendary efforts of Joel Monaghan.

But it appears they have been exceeded by St Kilda players setting a dwarf on fire.

Will the champs bounce back?

Blame the media though, as it finally was reported that the idiots were setting each other on fire also…. I guess they thought the dwarf wanted to be part of the stupidity.
To be fair though the dwarf seems like a decent bloke and he is a wrestler/entertainer. One could argue he uses his lack of height to make money as a profession.

Do football players find your stature inherently funny?

What I don’t understand about “footy” players, is the legal structure which allows them, when on the field, to punch each other in the head. I know that the AFL, NRL etc “punish” players for such things, but there is no police involvement. Is that purely because no one ever presses charges? Or is there some legal protection afforded to a person by nature of being paid for sport?

Wait, they box wallabies???

I’ve looked on the website for Dwarf My Party and I still have no idea what these “performers” actually do, except that they don’t strip. Apparently they just hang around in costumes and talk to people.

“So, like, I hire myself out as entertainment for these guys. I let them dress me up and throw me round and box little wallabies and stuff. It’s all good fun. But lighting my shirt on fire is just demeaning for me”

They paid a man to come to their party and someone decided to burn him. The dog thing was disturbing but this is so horrifying that nobody believes it is real the first time they hear it.

The response of Blake Ferguson to his attack reminds me of a rape victim. He is upset but just wants to pretend someone didn’t just try to kill him, doing his best to make it all go away. Scary scary stuff.

Well actually Raiders players have been involved with dwarfs in the past. I was on the Gold Coast in January 1985 at a nightclub which featured dwarf throwing. Two Raiders players were involved. A month or so later the media picked up on the dwarf throwing story although the Raiders managed to keep the involvement of their players out of the press.

cyclists being laughed at, you’re just a nonsense.

I don’t care about being laughed at, being killed by a moron driving a lethal weapon who is stupid enough to think its “funny” I have a problem with.

Its hard to not laugh at the dwarf lighting, as disgraceful as it it.

Nigger joke, anyone? Bit of a laugh about a poofter bashing?

And JB – what’s with the amused tone in your headline? Reads as though you agree that short people are subhuman. Disgraceful.

and yet you are happy to “joke” about running down cyclists.

Yes, absolutely. Cyclists dish right back. If there’s a history of cyclist oppression and hatred leading to significant damage to cyclists’ lives, do tell. If you really think that the lynching of blacks in America, and dwarf-throwing, and poofter bashing, equate to middle-class lycra clad cyclists being laughed at, you’re just a nonsense.

Short people of all persuasions worldwide, having read this, are not Happy. In fact, they may well be Grumpy.

I wonder if there is a book on which players will get into trouble. The way it is none of the obvious candidates will be allowed near the Raiders mad monday celebrations. Is it just me or do all the heinous acts seem to be done by backs and not forwards. There are more Carney/Ferguson/Earls out there than Willie Masons

Mason is no angel.

I think his/her point was that the majority of footballing idiots are backs like Carney/Ferguson/Earl. Very few forwards (like Willy Mason) muck up regularly

That’s because backs have flair and are always searching for that next thing to make a mark. Forwards are just the blokes who take the hits that let the backs do their thing.

How many forwards do you see score spectacular tries? Backs do it with monotonous regularity.

(Disclaimer: as an ex fullback/three-quarter I’m probably a tad biased).

If you or I had set a person on fire, dwarf or not, we’d be facing a lengthy stretch in the pokie.

Society excuses these idiots too often.

Not to mention Andrew Demetriou getting the Eddie Maguire “untouchable” treatment, let off the hook despite laughing about the incident (along with everyone else at the table during broadcast). Demetriou “apologised” but is facing no actual censure. AFL is above the law.

It’ll be a tall order for anyone to top that. When will these footy players grow up?

I don’t know if I’d come down on JB’s use of words quite so much, but I’m agreeing with Masquara on this.

Would people snigger if it had been generically reported that a man had been set on fire by St. Kilda players for a laugh?
