Whatever happened to Craigel's Bagels?

Does anyone know what happened to “Craigel’s Bagels” in Dickson?

It has been a while since I have been in Dickson during business hours during the week, and I was really looking forward to a roast beef bagel but, alas, there is now a coffee shop where my beloved “Craigel’s” once was.

Rumours abound the public servant offices nearby saying that Craig just didn’t open up one day and within four weeks a coffee shop had popped up.

During college and uni, “Craigel’s” was an institution to my friends and I and if anyone knows how to get in contact with Craig so we can thank him, that would be totally appreciated.

Anyone who wants to contact Craig can email me at avalyons87@gmail.com

And I will add I would do anything of a bagel with sintzel and cheese toasted! – and in the 10 year craigels was open it was always going ‘good’ dad just liked being the person at the counter 🙂

I was looking up criagels bagels out of curiosity just because my dad owned it! – so after 5 years of this being posted I can let you know what happened – After owning craigels bagels for a very long time dad started to get tired and competing with subway and maccas was pretty hard! When I get home I am going to make sure I show him these positive comments about his shop because I think we all know that he loved working there and enjoyed interacting with customers!

Craig was a sole trader. That immediatly says the business wasn’t doing to good. If the business was earning more than a certain amount (I think above $30,000), then he should have become a company to make use of the company tax rate, which is much lower the personal income tax rate he would have been subject to. Also, did he have any employees? Sole Tradership normally means one person in the business, with provisions for an assistant or apprentice.

hmm SGS and bagels. Next you’ll be telling me you wear a cardigan and like hanging out in book stores.

Seriously dude, lose the image.

I also wanted to have lunch there a few weeks ago and noticed that Craigel’s was “temporarily closed”.

I had assumed that the coffee shop which was being fitted out after this was just a new name for Craigel’s, however looking at Craigel’s ABN listing the new shop’s name isn’t on the list of trading names.

It looks like Craig was a sole trader so it shouldn’t be too hard for somebody to track down his contact details if they want to.

Roast beef bagle? Wow, a shop the went beyong the bloody stereotype of cream chees and jam.

His moocha shakes where like concrete boots for you stomach. God bless the genuine warmth he gave his customers – once the bingo/pension set hit joint it positively buzzed. Several hats of to Craigels!

Best bagels in canberra and then some!

quite frankly there just isnt enough places to purchase coffee from. there needs to be at least one coffee shop per 10 canberrans.
