Noticed this mini-Stonehenge off the federal highway, opposite turn for the tulip farm just before dipping down to yass river…

Anyone know its provenance?

UPDATE: Thanks to BenMac who sent in the aerial view:

I’d settle for rising over a particular stone on the solstice.

Depending on where you stand that is 100% possible. Also depending on where you stand, you could use it to show any birthday or event that is marked on a calendar! All you need to do is stand in the right place!

It turns out The Henge has a Facebook page.

If one is to build a henge, or in this case, a stone circle, then one must ensure it lines up with the summer or winter equinox.

Otherwise it’s just pointless.

Gotta do it right….

Yeah, but do you know just how difficult it is to get the Druids in to upgrade the software (leylines 4.1.03) in a stone circle?

I wonder what the lizards make of it, and if there’s a battle for the penthouse at the top of Skinkhenge?

Maybe it’s attribute to spinal tap’s stone henge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg5Ovdu6bOE

They put it up in the middle of last year after finding some good stones on their property. The heart shape was an earlier project (mowed into the grass on the hill): http://www.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/just-druid-the-wallaces-are-building-their-own-stonehenge-20120602-1zp8x.html

Some nice pics and more info here: http://www.abc.net.au/local/photos/2012/09/21/3595527.htm

Surely the issue is can you use the stones to predict astrological events?

Such as whether my karma is in line with Uranus on the 28th day of the cycle or did you mean astronomical events like eclipses etc?

I’d settle for rising over a particular stone on the solstice.

I heard that the owner is also a stone mason and he created this for his wife. Rumour has it that if you see if from the air it is in the shape of a heart.

Anyone with a nearmaps account to check if there’s a recent/clear enough photo to verify?

Google Maps maybe?

Thanks. How long has it been there, I wonder?

Both Googlemaps and nearmap have it as a two circles, one within the other.

I admire the entrepreneurial spirit, but it’s seems pretty half-arsed to slap together a semblance of a henge and then trying to cash in on it. It’s not even a particularly intricate or interesting one.

No one’s forcing you to go and see it.

It may have been purely co-incidental; But I drove past it on the evening of 21st of December last year and noticed it had a small crown in among it.

Now that story is a lot nicer 🙂

Reptoids?

Hoorah! I can answer this. I heard an interview on the radio one weekend – a farmer and his wife who love stone henge decided to build their own one. You can go up and visit and there may or may not be a fee to get in. I believe they are thinking of getting some kind of coffee cart/refreshment arrangement going.
