Has anyone been victim to the new ads played at target?

While standing in line they have a tv playing the specials while your waiting to get though the checkout.

I felt lucky that the line was short today I couldnt imagine standing there on a busy day.

The main problem with this it only plays one set of Ads and only goes for 30 seconds.

So every minute you hear it twice etc.

My friend and myself asked the attendant what she thought of it, who was obiviously annoyed at it.

Apparently they have to listen to it for their whole shift of several hours, playing over and over.

I sure can’t think of anywhere else where an employer would have that little respect for their staff. 7 Hour shift they’d be hearing it about 500-1000 times.

Perhaps its a common theme in civic they have that annoying ‘Stand between the yellow lines’ loop at the travel-aiders.

Repetition is an acute form of torture. Retail workers should strike.

The Target ads are an affront to the feminist movement.

As a feminist i find them offensive, as a male i feel they dont want my business.

I agree. I don’t want to have to constantly hear songs about dicks and balls and stuff while I buy towels.

Most of these staff are inattentive, sleepy, low-paid pawns.

In your oh so humble opinion…

Low paid most likely, the rest of what you wrote is garbage.

Pfft, this is nothing. I once had a supermarket nightfill manager who played nothing but The Eagles’ Greatest Hits all night every night. I still get a nervous twitch every time I hear the opening phrases of Hotel California.

You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.

A lot of retail stores play repetitive in-store ads over the PA system. I used to work at such a store, and found the in store ads to be one of the most horrible, insidious assaults on my subconscious I’ve ever experienced. It got to the point where I was hearing them long after I had left work, in the shower, when trying to fall asleep, they just wouldn’t go away.

The ads were actually played by CD player in the office, I know one staff member resorted to repeatedly scratching up the CD so it wouldn’t play, and I heard staff in other stores kept cutting the cable between the CD player and the PA system as a solution.

I know supercrapcheap have “in store radio” playing “music” inter spaced with ads. It certainly encourages me to look at what I am there for and get out as quick as possible with stopping to browse.

So unsubtle. All you had to do at the store I worked at was keep bumping the volume knob down a bit every few minutes.

Who shops at target? Only the lower classes surely?

Well be sure to mention to the staff member that with a bit of luck, her job won’t exist for much longer and she won’t have to put up with it any longer. Most of these staff are inattentive, sleepy, low-paid pawns. Whenever I can, I use self serve checkouts and can’t wait for them to be more common.

It’s worse when they have Christmas music at intolerable volumes. *shudder* But that is retail for you, disrespect for staff is the name of the game.
