Where is winter?

frost

I cannot believe I’m about to write this, but I’m really missing winter in our town.

Granted it’s been a little brisk, but nothing like what we would expect in June in Canberra.

I’ve long complained about frosts and cold mornings, but I want to know where they’ve got too.

I bought this really cool pure wool pea coat in Melbourne late last year for a bargain price and I really want to wear it.

IT HASN’T BEEN COLD ENOUGH !!

Every week, I brace myself for the cold. I prepare my mind and body for the icy onslaught, but I’m still waiting.

I’m told that in late May we had the warmest late-autumn fortnight for 60 years in Canberra.

Our average max in the last fortnight of Autumn was 19 degrees.

I don’t enjoy the winter in Canberra, but I find myself constantly looking at the driveway and waiting for her to come home.

What’s wrong with this place?

Are Christine Milne and Shane Rattenbury being proven right here?

Is mother earth punishing us for daring to install a non-believer, well in the environmental sense, in the Lodge. Are we seeing the climate change before our very eyes or is this just a weird anomaly which will right itself before too long.

It’s tough to open a ski season with no snow.

Imagine running a snow gear hire business this season. Your profit and loss figures would be looking like a Canberra Raiders win/loss statistic. No wonder they’re flogging all of that snow gear cheap at your local Woolies.

This El Nino gentleman has a lot to answer for that’s all I can say.

You really are top tier talent.

Why thank you for the compliment. Far better to be a talent than a bottom feeder 🙂

Yes, the coldest month on Canberra on averages is July.

I think it’s great. Since moving here in 1970 I’ve wanted cold Canberra winters to disappear. Now it’s finally happening. Still too cold in the mornings, tho.

Have you stepped outside this morning Seb ? Get that breeze whistling by your ears man cos it feels a bit like winter to me now.

Ha ha. I was thinking the same thing this morning. I wrote that on Friday, but it sat in my computer for a few days. Yeah it’s a bit colder in the last few days, but where are the -5’s ? Where is the snow ? Where is the ice on the windscreen ?

I don’t enjoy those things, but I just wonder where they’ve got to.
