Where to buy caps (for cap guns)

Hi folks

When I was a lad, we used to have lots of fun playing around with cap guns. Cops and robbers, cowboys and Indians, urban warfare, pretend target practice, etc. Almost as much fun as the spud gun!

Anyways, I’ve come across an old cap gun of mine which takes the paper rolls, and thought I’d introduce my two boys to the concept. But where do you buy caps these days? Big W don’t seem to sell guns or caps any more, and a couple of other places sell the revolvers (which take ring caps) but no ammo.

Any hard knowledge would be much appreciated!

She refused to sell and gave some explanation around illegal drug manufacture. I hate to think what police database the old guy got my details on to!

Yeah, you probably got flagged as a potential person of note to ACT Policing’s Drug Identification Team.
Red phosphorous is the hot word for methamphetamine manufacture, since it makes the process more effective (110g meth from 120g ephedrine investment) and so damn simple almost anybody can try it (but its carries significant safety risk).

I am theoretically aware of the stages involved, but wouldn’t dream of encouraging anyone to try them, as its more than a little bit deadly (involving excess amounts of explosive phosphine and corrosive mists of hydrochloric gas…).

All three are covered by the Plastics and Chemicals Industry Association Code of Practice for Supply Diversion into Illicit Drug Manufacture.
If you want to get your hands on it short of directly committing crimes, you need to satisfy PaCIA that you’re only going to use the Category I chemical for research, analysis, or manufacturing processes, and set yourself up as a legitimate account customer after signing their End-User Declaration.

Check out Appendices 1 and 2 of linked document for more if you’re still looking to acquire some, and read Appendix 3 for a list of what not to do if you want to avoid being flagged as a methmagician by PaCIA.

Yep, paper rolls were great. They sell them here http://www.capguns.com.au/forsale.html
Towards the bottom of the page 1000 shots = $7.95. Bargain.

I didn’t know they did the paper ones anymore. Have only seen the plastic – well, “shells” would be the term I guess – hanging up in newsagents. Presumed it was something to do with OH&S or import restrictions or something.

Before the early noughties you could get a few grams of red phosphorous and various chlorates at any chemist. (Kids, don’t try this at home and for frak’s sake don’t mix them dry).

Last time I went to buy, the pharmacist took my driver’s licence details and said he would get back to me. A week later and nothing, so I went back and spoke to his offsider. She refused to sell and gave some explanation around illegal drug manufacture. I hate to think what police database the old guy got my details on to!

Only really available online these days.
