Where to stick Julia?

Following on from the news that Julia Gillard needs to be out of The Lodge for some months while it’s dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century, The Age’s long time RiotACT favourite Jessica Wright is considering the options for what to do with the PM.

The residence would need to be in a low to medium-density area with secure entry and car access, ample live-in accommodation for close-protection federal police agents – as well as modern facilities for domestic staff.

There would also be a need to fit bulletproof glass on any exposed windows, and the property would need to be within a short drive to Parliament House and away from a major road.

Any suggestions hive-mind?

And is there any good reason why she can’t stay at the Hyatt on sitting days and enjoy some harbour side time at Kirribilli for a few months?

Hmmm…secure…low profile…space for the cops…alarms fitted…bullet proof glass…sounds like my place.

I’d be willing to rent it out to her and the first bloke, for a nominal fee.

Move out? Most people live in their homes while they are renovating, living around the painting or extensions, and just getting on as best they can. They could just stay in the Lodge, and perhaps Tim could help out the tradespeople when they are short a pair of hands.

Narrabundah Caravan Park…. Although its pretty tough out in the regions of Canberra.

I think Tim needs to do Julia and everyone else a favour by sucking it up.

Alternatively, they can have my much less ‘intimidating’ place, and I will take the shack in Yarralumla. Everyone’s happy. I’ll even have a housewarming barbie, everyone welcome.

Tent embassy?

Or just get her to bunk down in her office. It is not like parliament really sits them any days over the next few months.

Sorry i need to retract that it was the Governor-General’s Yarralumla residence

First post fail!

Bega Flats!!

Tim isn’t comfortable with Kirribilli apparently!

Well it’s Government House Tim doesn’t like apparently.

Ask Kevin,I Am Sure He Has A Place In Mind!!

The former High Commission of Bangladesh is currently up for rent and would probably do the job.

Seems extraordinarily expensive though. The former Embassy of North Korea was up for rent for probably about a quarter of the price not that long ago.

She can come and stay at our place. Might make the builders pull their fingers out of their arses and get the bloody renos/extension done a bit quicker!

“away from a major road”??

so the AFP are increasing their standards? the current lodge is pretty close to adelaide avenue.
