So based on past experience where’s the place to be for cup watching today for those without office parties?

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments and your experiences this year.

You can always watch it online at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Em-PsEhVlLU

Or go to google earth and watch the live satellite coverage. Although since I am posting after the cup I expect the track is empty.

I didn’t realise YouTube broadcast live events…

Where ever you are make a call to a help desk somewhere during the race. Call centres love to get calls while the Melbourne Cup is on. Make sure it is an Aussie call centre though. I suggest some sort of IT, HR or facilities helpdesk at work. Say something like, ‘horseracing is cruel’ or ‘betting is evil’. Listen to their workmates cheering in the background.

Advise them that you are currently at the pub so won’t be available for the rest of the day.

I get one of these calls every year. Hilarious.

TV – Unless you can make it to Melbourne.

Go to the shops and enjoy the siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilence.

The Australian will be showing all of todays races live as well as running sweeps for the big one. We’ve got 3 Plasmas and a big screen right in the heart of the city so if you feel like a beer or a bit of bubbly, drop on it!
