I click on the BOM site to see if the easterlies have hit Braidwood; and cooled that joint down on a stinkin hot day. Coz then I know they will hit here eventually,,, hopefully.

But Braidwood has done a runner from the BOM site. Anyone know why please.

While we’re on things meteorrollligyy , where out at the airport is the BOM site located. I suspect once it would have been in a paddock all by its pat malone, but now ? There are buildings everywhere.

I ask this as the one out at Monash used to sit in a paddock by itself, but is rapidly being enclosed by the Goodwin retirement village.

When we moved to Canberra in 1970, 2CA (then at 64 Northbourne Ave) used to announce the current temperature “under the tea tree”. A few years later I went there on work experience and they showed me the thermometer under the tree in the rear car park. In 1976 they began sourcing their temps from the BOM.

5DN in Adelaide had a similar temp announcment in the late 60’s . Theirs was ‘ out under the old olive tree”.
( Geez those were the days. Only worry was getting enough cash together every month to pay me ESANDA loan on me Morris 850 )

Old site was here. New site is here.

Ah , interesting. Thank you Davo 101. I wonders when they will relocate the Monash site. The readings may be becoming corrupted due to the closeness of retirement village.

Braidwood has returned from the Twilight Zone.

CLIMATE CHANGE IS CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know you’re gonna start believing it yourself if you keep this up. Sort of a kind of self-hypnosis thing!

Can’t really add anything except to say that a fault’s been reported; no idea how long it will take to get fixed (depends in part on whether it’s something that can be fixed remotely – often when the AWSs stop reporting it’s a communications problem – or something that needs someone to go there). In the meantime, if you’re hanging out for a southeasterly Nerriga’s a good place to keep an eye on.

Curse reality and its left wing bias!

Looks like Braidwood AWS has been offline since Monday:

No idea why.

Ah .. you may be onto something. Have been in and out of town recently, and remember one day in the arvo the Braidwood thingo was stuck at 9am. It might be on the fritz and due for a repair. It may have blown a valve. Are valves still used ?

I noticed that too when trying to do the same as you – some time last week when hope of ever feeling a cool breeze was fading. Maybe the easterly was so strong it blew it off the map. I did note that Cooma on the day I checked was dropping fast, which was so annoying – wanted to get in the car and drive down there!
