Whinge of the month

We here at RiotACT are fairly prone to having a whinge at almost anything, which is fair enough. I received the Chronicle on the driveway today and on the front page is this:

Service Station in doubt.

Here is Mr Renato CERVO, developer, having a monster whinge about Coles express opening in Gungahlin. “I didn’t know there was going to be another petrol station when I brought [sic] the land,” Mr Cervo said “If I knew another petrol station would be built, maybe I wouldn’t have got involved.” and later “I deserve a fair go.”

And before you all start complaining about ‘brought’ – I copied it straight from the article.

Gee, someone else is keen to get a piece of the market share and this bloke is complaining.

Get back in your box Mr Cervo.

Why bump this old thread with an unsubstantiated spray, Rumplestiltskin?

Either give us the gossip behind your apparent irritation with Mr Cervo or chill out a bit.

The man is a greedy, rude and manipulative person who is entirely motivated by his delusions of grandeur. He also seems to feed on conflict and the desire to be “top dog”. Here’s hoping that karma pays him back BIG TIME!!

Northsiders wouldn’t need a servo if they rode the bus, light rail or a bike. Servo’s are merely there to keep the sniffers distracted.

We live near the nonexistant Amaroo servo. I wonder whether he thought Bonner/Forde would be established faster and that’s why he bought there, because right now it isn’t in the best position.

Either way, it’s built and looks pretty much ready to run, except for the lack of pumps. Annoying.

I finally received my copy of The Chronicle today (comes neatly wrapped in plastic now!) and apparently this Cervo bloke owns the Amaroo servo site.

Seems like his time is nearly up to start building it. Why hasn’t he started yet? Is he hoping the value of the land has gone up so he can sell for a tidy profit?

He talks about wanting a “clean” servo in the article – one without a carwash or a workshop attached. I would of thought a workshop (not a carwash, we have two already in Mitchell/Gungahlin area that will go belly up if the Govt implements the next level of water restrictions) would be a good idea bring in extra rent for Mr Cervo.

Marco Polo DID NOT see the Great Wall of China.

I thought the Great Wall was created to keep Flashmobs out?

Everybody knows that the Great Wall of China was created to keep Chuck Norris out. This is no place for midgets.

A verticaly challenged person,please, S4anta.

The Chronicle is about as helpful as midget having a go at jumping over the Great Wall of China.

I saw that article as well. Bu the’s doing it all for the community…

This story gets even better/worse yet: a few weeks ago the front page of the *same paper* had an article talking about the long delays developing the site he bought as the development permit was about to expire, nearly a year from memory … so the bloke whingeing had ample opportunity to get in and start trading before the first sod was even turned on the new servo!

Reggie owns half of industrical Phillip, half of the industrial Belconnen area, he bought Manuka Woolies and bits and pieces all over town.

I won’t shed a tear coz the squillionaire lost out for once…

Resident buys house in Gungahlin some years ago — gee, there’s only going to be one service station in this whole area for a few years until the whole area takes off and the town centre develops out of sight? If I’d known that I might not have gotten involved ..

Mr Cervo runs a servo? I’d go there so I could ask him how’s the [Cs]ervo today. Bet he’s never heard that one before.

Two servos for a whole town centre and he is complaining about losing out market share?

Pure greed.

Felix the Cat9:30 pm 17 Oct 07

I haven’t read the Chronicle yet, does RC own the Woolies servo? It has been in the pipeline for literally years that Coles/Shell were going to build a servo next to Bunnings. Dry your eyes Princess.

Business is uncertain. The bloke bought a premises, not guaranteed market share. A fair go is considering his business against the alternative and I wish him the best of luck in that.
