WHISKEY

I do like a good whiskey… maybe RiotACT needs to go review this event.

This Saturday the 27th July, you can go try some fancy whiskey.

Whisky Live Canberra 2013.

Join us for a great collection of whiskies, all under one roof at Albert Hall.

Taste some of the world’s long-time favourites and some exciting new brands.

Speak with people behind the brands and gain some in-depth knowledge.

It’s all at Whisky Live!

I’m going to need a wheelbarrow and someone I trust enough to push me home in it.

Also talking to the Penderyn stand, Dan Murphys should be stocking it next year, so i figured you could wait that long.

Ooh that’s good! Though I won’t have to wait that long as I’m going back to Cymru in October.

Hi Ben. I went today and for $95 dollars got to try a number of different single malts (including a number that i would have never considered). In all i considered it good value.

Also talking to the Penderyn stand, Dan Murphys should be stocking it next year, so i figured you could wait that long.

I’ve backed down too…

As my good lady wife said; “For $95.00 you could buy yourself a bottle of a decent single malt, and drink it all yourself.”

Anyone who does go, please buy me a bottle of the Welsh stuff, (Penderyn,) I’m good for the cash.

On the other hand, they don’t have Johnnie Walker – a very good sign.

Pfft. I only see six Islay whiskies there and three of ’em are sodding Bowmores, and another one’s possibly a blend. And they have bourbons, ‘fer cryin’ out loud. Can’t (/cannae) take it seriously.

It’s nae right.

And I was gang tae gae.

I have been to similar whisky tasting nights in Sydney and Melbourne, and it was very easy to overdo it.
My concern is how the ACTs Responsible Service of Alcohol Law will affect the servings here.

$95.00 a ticket, and they do not say how many free samples that entitles you too….

….suspicious…..

must have heard I was interested…..

Can anyone explain why it’s sometimes spelt whiskey and sometimes whisky? Is it a country of origin thing?

The story behind the “e” being dropped by the Scots was that they were too stingy to pay for the extra type on their labels.

A link in the article might make things perfect…(-:

Thanks!

(I have fallen into a parallel universe where Bartleby knows not only how to spell, but lots about words. Lots and lots.)

I believe ‘whisky’ is the accepted spelling here, but as I’m a Jameson man, I tend to spell whiskey the Irish way.

Or at least that’s my excuse.

It’s a country thing. I’m using the American and Irish spelling. Most other places drop the E.

Can anyone explain why it’s sometimes spelt whiskey and sometimes whisky? Is it a country of origin thing?
