The Canberra TImes has a story on the highest priced land sale in Canberra.

27 Mugga Way in Red Hill has gone for $7.3 million, smashing the previous record of $4.5 million.

But who will be moving into the palatial grounds?

Perhaps it’s Jackie Chan. Then you won’t be calling it tacky. Not to his face, anyway.

I’m sure Sir Harold White is laughing himself silly – he bought the block on the cheap in the 1930s with a low-interest government loan. It had a drain running through it and nobody else wanted it.

Who would want to live in Bugga Way anyway?

Haha, love the numerous empty wine bottle holes, But the slippery sucker of a floor in the garage is plain ridiculous! Don’t spill the Valvoline!

On the interior decoration front. Well, can honestly say that my humble little 2-bedroom home decorated with modern fittings and crisp, clean, lines and furniture, decorated with only the best that Better Bits at Pialligo has to offer, is a mile ahead of this overly priced and poorly ‘decorated” monstrosity.

Not to my taste at all.

Good on the buyer though for having the funds to spend up big.

I’m sure your thoughts on your castle crossed their minds in the purchase process, but, mayhaps, they’d think similiar thoughts about your place.

Maybe the Seppo’s bought it for Obummers upcoming visit…

Personally I’d rather have 18.25 $400k houses.

I do agree but the new owner probably allready does.

Lets just say that the Sushi business must pay well…

I guessed #3 was just sour grapes but those are actually some nauseating colours! If you can afford a house in Mugga Way then you can afford an interior decorator. You can replace the fugly curtains but the wooden kitchen and brown bathroom are going to be serious renovations.

I suspect the Efkarpidis are fans of the interior design concept that might be called ‘new Mediterranean’. Also common in O’Malley.

I assume its a cultural thing – much like up market houses in Hong Kong are filled with gold taps. Who am I to judge what looks good … well, actually, obviously I do judge. I like the gardens.

I guess there comes a point when a person has so much money that it’s not really a problem any more.

Crikey it’s only bloody Canberra, not Sydney!

$7m would be outrageous in Sydney. You could buy ten waterfront-view townhouses on the lower north shore for that price.

Foreign investor maybe.

Here’s a video tour of the property. The camera-man had a bit of trouble.

Whoah. That will be $474,500.00 in stamp duty to the ACT government.

Looks tacky.

Oh, here is the allhomes link if you want to see what $7.3m gets you.

Pottsy?

That’s a lot of cash and the amount by which it has smashed the previous Canberra record is staggering.
