TAMS said.“Vandalism costs in Glebe Park have so far this year totalled approximately $70,000, damages have been found at the toilet facility and park furniture, and shrubbery has been stolen, bins set on fire, graffiti in some areas and damage to the playground’s rubber softfall surface.”
Ms Carder said that so far this financial year over $100,000 would be needed to repair the vandalism to the playground and toilet facilities of the Fadden Pines District Park.
“Already this year there have been more than 35 newly planted young trees damaged or stolen from our urban open spaces. City Rangers are currently investigating situations which involved the poisoning of mature public trees,” Ms Carder said.
“Recently a significant tree on rural land near Rob Roy Nature Reserve was also maliciously cut down with an axe.
