burning mattress

Andrew has seen this mattress being given a Viking funeral on Lake Ginninderra and sent in this note:

Saw this mattress on fire in Lake Ginnenderra.

Called 000, but shock horror! The local fire brigade have no facilities for extinguishing burning lakes.

Sounds like a policy hole that the Liberals or Greens could fill to embarrass the Labor party.

I suspect this in the western end of the bridge, north side, before William Slim Drive – just where the bike path goes under the bridge on that western side. In the last fortnight someone had placed a fold out settee bed on the lake sure and I’ve seen them fishing from it. Either the fish are striking back or some numpty objected to the increased amentiy provided.

Thanks Grump.

and that should read lake shore please, not “sure”!

Wasn’t the bloke who set off the fire alarm in student ressies and then protested the fine by moving onto the lake, was it? Kinda ironic if it was.

Tad bit late for the Lantern Festival me thinks.

well that explains why I saw the Fire people parked on Ginninderra drive last night, three of them were standing on the footpath and looking over the railing at the lake….scratching their heads.
I assumed Tepee Boy was back!

Get out a fire extinguisher and borrow a jetski from the cops.

It’s not like they use them.

Probably should have made clear to them (assuming you didn’t) it was very close to shore and could have spread, not to mention was well within range of fire hoses sprays. Saying it’s on the lake, it’s not surprising they didn’t turn up.
