Who's petitioning for the Canberra Declaration?

Over the weekend we took a look at the Canberra Declaration which some business owners around town are putting out for petition.

They hope to use the signatures to influence public policy as a statement of public opinion.

But these things work both ways.

So if you’ve seen the petition in a local business please name them below in the comments. Readers can then choose whether this is a positive or a negative.

I’ve had an email from these idiots, informing me that they had “prayed for the victims of the floods.” How dare they go against gods will? If god wants to send death and destruction to Queensland, who are they to petition him for a bit of relief.

But there again, the fact that they have not sussed out that my declaration signing name “An*s P. W*nkstain,” isn’t a real person gives some idea of their cognitive level.

I signed up to the website for the Canberra declaration, using the name An#s P W@nkst@in.

I just had a mail off them “Dear An#s P”..

Religion is for those who are afraid to go to hell; spirituality is for those who have already been there.

@watto, I’m sorry, I think I’ve misread the intention of your remarks. If so, ignore my comments and we’ll leave them for those who are interested!

Its good, I finished reading the posts before responding.
But yeah I don’t tell people who can get married (I understand plenty of gay people don’t want to get married either just like i’m hetrosexual and not married) just the same as I don’t expect to be told what religion i should follow. The whole Canberra declaration is even worse, because they believe everyone need their moral guidance and can’t accept another set of beliefs.

I think religion is a little like smoking. It’s fine if you are into that kind of thing, but exposing your children to it is child abuse.

best analogy ever!

Whats good for the goose is good for the gander hey? I like this switch-a-roony petition idea. Not convinced though that petitions are terribly effective but I suppose its a release.

Some people think that religion is wrong. Usually they keep it to themselves bit occasionally one will insist upon bringing light, enlightenment and boredom to all by explaining their position to anyone who will stand still.

Same problem with straight people, generally they are happy to just stick to attractive people from the other sex but sometimes they try to make everyone else do the same thing. Yawn.

I only believe in abortion if both chicks are hot.

Oh, wait, that’s not how it goes is it.

* If you think gay marriage and abortion is wrong…

If people choose to use their business to promote opinions that I disagree with, I will choose to not spend money at their business and let them know precisely why.

Yes, PLEASE post up the details. I won’t waste my money on them. Thanks in advance to all who contribute.

@watto23 – please tell me when any queers have stopped people practising their religion. Some of us may point and laugh, but whatever you get up to in the privacy of own churches is up to you. If you think gay marriage and religion is wrong, fine, nothing is forcing you to have either of those.

As if something like this will get and ground in Canberra. I’m thankful for it. Isn’t religious freedom, about allowing people ther freedom to choose their beliefs?

So telling society that gay marriage and abortion is wrong, is imposing your beliefs onto society…..

I’m all for people believing what they want, I hate those that think what they believe is what we should all believe because its for the good of the majority in their opinion.
