If you like: The xx, Daughter & Cat Power
It was recently I decided to take a trip down to Melbourne and in a rapid mixture of industry conferences, music and late evenings in a town that rarely sleeps, I found myself in a dreary dream, with a faint but certain soundscape leading me through.
This was Enola Gay. I was moved, it felt like I was taking a walk down a cold winter street in England; like lighting candles and letting the bubbles of a warm bath indulge me. Ah the serenity.
Though a new fixture to Melbourne’s live music scene, in only few months her sound of crystalline and nostalgia have been well received by fans and music lovers a like.
Her most recent release, a self-title EP include their 2019 single Running, is a presentation of what it’s like to be lost and missing something. The final track Losing to Berlin is my personal favourite. The close-to-6 minute song is a reflection, longing for something that’s gone. A life, a love; you can decide.
“…and I’m dancing to how I lived, and how I will die…”
We’re excited to announce Enola Gay will playing at Sideway for Crop Up Sessions 14 August.
