While the Canberra CBD Ltd have announced a Roller Skate in the city and was announced here already.

Why not a proper ‘roller skate in the city’ like they do in Paris and London. Every Friday night is skaters night in the city.

If you include boards every Friday night is skaters night in the city. Illegal but they do it anyway

Skateboarding isn’t illegal is it? Why on earth would it be?

There are designated holes in the ground for that sort of thing, although they are rarely if ever used, except as sites for youths to congregate for binge drinking

You can only ride on the road when: there is no dividing line or median strip; the speed-limit is equal to or less than 50 kilometres per hour; or on a one-way road with less than 2 marked lanes. Oh, and they can only be ridden during daylight hours.

The ‘dividing line’ rule would cut out most of civic imo.

You’re not allowed to do anything fun in Canberra, so this definitely wouldn’t happen.

Apart from spreading contagious diseases at school.

Well the way Roads ACT are going, there will be no roads anywhere that haven’t been ruined with crappy chipseal (cue: JC), so unless you’re into gambling your skin against the cheese grater…

But seriously, we used to skate heaps around town at night as young folk (on lovely smooth asphalt streets). It was energetic and fun and harmless.

Why not give it a go a second time around and let us know how you get on.

*rolls eyes*

Let’s take it one roll at a time BC.

Afterall, we don’t want to take one roll forward and two rolls back.

Firstly, enrol in this roll, powers that be could roll it into a “proper” roll in the city.

Skating in the city assumes you have a network of roads. We have Bunda St. But sure, I’ll do laps!

People over the age of 12 actually own a pair of roller skates/blades?

Skating on the road at night sounds like an excellent way to get run over..

Yeah it sucks when people know how to have more fun than you 😉

Nominate a time and place and you’ll have at least one other participant!

You’re not allowed to do anything fun in Canberra, so this definitely wouldn’t happen.

Paris metro population – >12 million
London metro population – > 14 million.

Canberra ~ 400,000

I can hardly see Canberra having the amount of people participating to justify this.
