Why we link to the ABC so much

This is covered in the FAQ but as it has been occupying local talkback radio this week (how does it feel to be the subject of talkback radio you don’t listen to yourself? It feels odd. How do I know if I don’t listen? An awful lot of people have overheard it on their mother’s radios) I think we need to explain it again.

2. Why do you only mention the ABC in referring to big or breaking stories? Is it because that’s all you listen to, or the other outlets are a bit crap?

We use the first online source available. We have a quite sophisticated online monitoring program, so by all means suggest other sources we should look at.

For Canberra news the ABC tends to get there first online when we don’t have a contributor of our own.

Yes the ABC has a bias (not a huge one IMHO), but I’ve yet to see them caught making things up about local news and at the end of the day we need a source to link to. If other outlets could get out of the 1920s and get their material online then we’d love to go over their work. If there’s an online source of local news you think you should be covering then let us know.

buggered if i know thumper, my feedback is decidedly second hand.

I’m sure she knows how to pronounce Kaleen by now though, or at least there’s someone there to tell her.

Well it’s not as if Virginia’s real good over on ABC news with place names either.

Has anyone noticed that the SC10 “local” newsreader doesn’t actualy know how to pronounce canberra suburb names. Maybe they should use “hotdogs”, he’s around the studio anyway and they must have him on contract :).

I think thsi is one of those self evident truths.

The ABC has the local news online because its resourced properly.

CT online is a JOKE.

Win online is a JOKE (although ther tv news is OK)

Prime… do they have a local online presence ? their tv news is produced out of vic. its bizarre being on holiday in bendigo and seeing the ‘local’ prime tv heads talking about bendigo issues.

sc 10 – see prime.
