Most days of the week David Street in O’Connor is gracedby one young lady’s laundry.

Can anyone suggest how this works as a good idea?

Looking at it again, I think they are slingshots for repelling an attack from the giants who dwell in the flats of Goliath Court. (There really is a Goliath Court in David Street.)

Finally, proof this username is just a Mr G Sockpuppet.

I came out of my back gate once to find a bra hanging off my wing mirror.
As i walked down the street there were more female clothes discarded across other car bonnets, topped off at the bottom of the street by a pair of skimpy knickers provocatively perched astride a car aerial.
I always wondered if she had a long way to walk home, or whether she might live in the same street.

I’m sure you already know this, you being the pre-eminent expert of sarcasm in these parts, but don’t you think that written text on the Internet is probably the least effective medium to convey your sarcasm.

wow??? really???? we all learn new things every day! and because i care so much either way, it’s a particularly valuable lesson

My theory is that the person goes to the pool/gym* in the morning then drives to David St and walks/cycles* to the Parliamentary Triangle because there is no parking there. Whilst enroute, they shout abuse at no bell cyclists/pedestrians* and throw eggs at non bike rack equipped busses.

*conditions apply.

I second this theory. I would like sumpin about vegetarian food and parking pictures, but I digress.

*cough – yeah man it’s totally cool and fine and funky to hang clothes on a car in front of someone’s house. it looks totally awesome man and isn’t at all stupid or an eye sore. also that car is a major piece of machinery worth a whopping 7 grand so the person must be a millionaire. and to the rest of you snobby jerks, mind your own business. the public space isn’t yours as well, it is just for the rest of us left wing hipsters

is that better? sorry for having a different opinion and thinking maybe a car isn’t the best place for underwear and such and that a 7 grand car isn’t expensive…i am nutty and snobby to the max

the only person trying to control what happens in a public place here is you. Eye-sore is a bit excessive, to say the least. You could come along and pinch the clothes if you’re that upset, I mean, no-one could prove it.

Just like no-one could hope to prove who left a bag of dog-crap on your doorstep.

But you’ve highlighted something I do love about Australia. It’s a place where stupid people can get rich through hard-work.

but /you/ highlight something i really hate about Australia – how people have no respect for the property of others. i wouldn’t touch or move those clothes even though i think they are an eye-sore…but you’d drop a bag of crap on a door step.

you’re cool man. thank you for showing me the way to genius!

Pretty sure that car used to be in my work carpark off De Burgh St in Lyneham.

Someone in the building put a note on the car one day saying the carpark was not a clothesline.

If the clothes are on her car then it’s nobody’s business but hers. At least she doesn’t have stupid flags and such hanging off it.

Firstly, people are allowed to park on the street unless there is a sign saying they can’t. Secondly, that is my friends car and those are her gym clothes, she dries them on her car. Nothing wrong with that. I’ll let her know she’s a bit of a celebrity. But won’t advise her to park elsewhere. Sorry.

For gawsakes Rioters – haven’t any of youse ever lived near the coast? Standard sight from Tamarama to Maroubra (beach swim) or Darlinghurst (Eddie Charlton swim), let alone coastal towns: early morning swim then leave your togs and towel where they will dry quickest.

I had to study that photo very carefully about six times before I spotted the Subaru.

Now that I’ve seen it, it’s easier to spot each time I try again.

I think the clothes are an excellent type of camouflage. Also very clever partly hiding it in the shade of that tree. It really breaks up the shape.

p.s- If that really is your house, then I now know who to blame for that hideous cubist grey structure. I always wondered what kind of mind could be responsible for such a travesty. It makes sense now.

$7k??? oooh sorry, such a huge difference…it’s practically a ferrari!!

and yes i am a massive snob for not wanting people to park their car in front of my place with laundry on it – wtf was i thinking trolling with craziness like that?? people should use the trees as well! and letterboxes…and why not set up hills hoists on the nature strips??

ffs

What does it matter if they park a car with clothes on it (in a perfectly legal place) in front of your house? It’s not in your driveway. It’s not going to devalue your property. Maybe you’re offended by clothes, but that really is your problem and nobody else’s. Why not get over it?? ffs.

Woohoo…that’s a fantastic opportunity for the members of Canberra’s underwear sniffing community! Hey…Not that I…I mean…

Maybe they got sick of perverts jumping their fence to steal their ‘smalls’ off their line? Less of a feeling of invasion if the clothes go missing from out the front.

There’s a bit of difference between a car worth under $1000 and a car worth $7 or $8000. Your point about it not being a recent model is correct it’s just your wild exaggeration makes you look like a bit of tool.

As for leaving them outside the car, I wonder how many times they end up with bird crap stains parking under that tree.

Looks like at least one towel and a bikini top (pink thing hanging off the side mirror) in the mix. Leave wet clothing in a hot car for too long and it begins to smell. So could be very real reason for hanging things out to dry.

Maybe the person lives in their car!!!!!!

I wonder if she’s ever found dried ‘ectoplasm’ on any of her clothing?

recentish Subaru??? that car would be worth no more than a grand…piece of junk

damn poor people…shoo. and it’s parked in front of a nice house

I recently got 7 grand for ours of the same model. You must have gotten seriously ripped off when you sold yours.

My first thought was ANU student in an apartment who doesn’t have a clothes line, and doesn’t have a dryer or want to pay for running it, but the recentish Subaru would suggest otherwise.

your clothes would dry quickly but they would also be ruined by the sun and heat…what a trashy thing to do

Get your snobby nose out of the clouds and smell the roses.
– the car may not be worth more than a grand to you, but if it has low mileage it has more value than any modern Daewoo or Kia and will outlast them.
– So you hate people parking in front of your house? Move out to the country and build an electric fence to keep them out, or better still, get into an apartment block where they don’t have parking spots.
– How do you dry your clothes on a sunny day, chuck ’em in the dryer and ruin our environment?
Okay, I get it, you’re an obvious troll, I got sucked in…..still, it was fun to vent the day’s anger.

That’s a hybrid car. It runs on petrol and static electricity.

Car gets hot in the sun, clothes dry quickly via solar power! It could become the Next Big Thing!

Holden Caulfield3:13 pm 31 Jan 13

Ahh, so is the drying of the clothes on the car the normal behaviour? I’d assumed the clothes were on a balcony or similar and the subsequent pic of the clothes on the car was the result of some smart arse prankster.

Living out of car?

I’d say that some young “gentleman” got pissed off. 😉

it’s there most days

A few years ago now my laundry was nicked from the Hills Hoist behind a fence in my backyard and then distributed among the neighbouring letter boxes, along with a pot plant or two.

So, yes, leaving it out with easy access seems a tad foolish.
