ACT Policing is investigating several cases of damage to vehicles in the Dunlop, Macgregor, Forde and Bonner areas over the last month.

On Saturday (6 April) alone, up to 11 vehicles were damaged in the suburbs of Forde and Bonner with affected vehicles having their windscreens or windows smashed with house bricks which were left at the scene.

One witness told police they saw a vehicle driving along Francis Forde Boulevard with a passenger throwing bricks at parked cars.

Since 1 March there have been up to 30 reports of vehicles being damaged mostly around the Dunlop and Macgregor areas. Vehicles have had their windscreens smashed, some received panel damage with blunt objects and some had their tyre valves cut.

Police believe the incidents are linked and are asking residents who may see suspicious activity resulting in damage to vehicles to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppers.com.au.

I am shocked that “ACT Policing is investigating”.
I had my car maliciously damaged while being broken into, having to replace two doors just to be able to drive it again.
ACT police were not interested, even though a knife was also found next to the car.
my story is not the only one i have heard about where apparently scum in canberra can thieve and damage someone else’s property and get away with it, and it being too much effort for police to even pick up a pen.

I understand your position BSB, but 1 car being broken into or damaged is minor in their eyes. Wholesale destruction of the kind in this report and anecdotes on the other hand…

When our older car was used for midnight spares, in the middle of the day mind, I just called up to report it and get the crime number. I didn’t expect the filth to show up at all.

Reporting the event is important so they can gather statistics and see if there are patterns emerging which they can then target.

What a bunch of fcuktards perhaps when they’re caught we could use them as target practice, using bricks.Naturally we’d supply them with a helmet!

Put them naked in the Garema Place Stocks with a supply of bricks behind them. I’m sure people could find all sorts of ingenious ways to use them.

That is disgusting!!!! I hope they catch the little morons.

My car received a brick through it’s rear windscreen last night on Mabo Boulevard in Bonner around 11:30pm. There were three cars parked there including mine and there were three bricks on the side of the road. My mates car just in front of mine they missed fortunately but his neighbours car had their mirror smashed off. We heard the incident but we were too slow getting outside and we didn’t see the car at all unfortunately.

No fu@&ing way, LSWCHP!

Yeah, smashing windows is one thing, and that REALLY sucked. But doing your tyres like that?!?

Frankly, in that instance, i reckon you’d be completely justified living up to your username. Bang. This is serious. How long til one of these d-bags loosens/removes the wheel nuts of a parked car. Enough is enough.

Some prick smashed my car windows in January. All up, it cost me $800 (replace the windows, day off work).

I look forward to finding out who it was.

Forget those $10k crime prevention grants from Simon Corbell. My solution is free.

Yeah, I’m offering free martial arts lessons too. I had pebbles screwed under the valve caps of all 4 tyres, depressing the valve needles so that they all slowly and simultaneously deflated. I had my wife and elderly parents on board when this was happening. It was a profoundly dangerous and stupid thing to do. If I’d been driving at speed when they went flat it could have turned out very badly for us.

Not content with that though, the evil little bastards had also dragged rocks or keys back and forth down both sides of the car. I can’t imagine what someone could be thinking when they damage the property and endanger the lives of people they’ve never met who have done them no harm.

I’m a pretty calm and self contained bloke, but I swear if I could find out who did that I’d make them cry.

Probably drunks, in my taxi driving days, sitting on the after hours rank on Lathlain (Shell servo), a drunk rolled out of the drinking house on the corner of Weedon Close with a hammer (unbelievable) and started smashing the front and rear windows of the cars parked on Lathlain.

As he approached the rank, it was synchronized driving as we all left to try our luck somewhere else.

I still reckon pubs and clubs and other drinking venues should be closed at 10pm. Save a lot of problems.
