Hey Rioters!

It’s Monday and to start your week off right we’d like to hook you up with some tickets to Canberra’s Latin dancing event of the year, Canberra Latin Dance Festival.

The event will be held at the ANU’s Sports and Recreational Centre, and will run from the evening of Friday the 18th though to the evening of Sunday the 20th.

Hosting four international artists and over 33 local and national performance teams, the event will cater to all levels of dance fans. With classes available for beginners through to advanced dancers, and plenty of entertainment for those who just want to go watch some dancing.

The organisers of the festival, Raquel and Andrea Paez from Salsabor Dance Studio, are thrilled to officially announce the line-up of international guests they have confirmed to attend in 2013.

“We are incredibly excited to have James and Milton Cobo and Erin Leger from the CoboBrothers Dance Co and Melissa Rosado “The Mambo Princess” all from the USA, as our international guests this year,” Raquel said.

“These dancers will not only inspire you with their breathtaking performances, but will share their wealth of dance knowledge and experience with participants.”

The international guests will be performing each night along with over 33 local and national performance teams before the dance parties kick off. Participants will be able to dance all night long to different Latin rhythms, including Salsa, Zouk and Bachata.

“We are also excited to announce two special themed evenings for this year’s festival,” Raquel said. “The Suit and Tie evening on Saturday 19 October, and the Rio Style Evening on Sunday 20 October.

“We’re especially excited about the Rio Style evening where we will celebrate Canberra’s Centenary Year with a special tribute. Dancers will unite and move to the irresistible Brazilian beats for 100 seconds.”

“We’ve put out a special call for all samba dancers nationally to take part in the tribute, so if you samba please come along and celebrate with us.”

Tickets can be purchased from their website here, but for a lucky few of you dear Rioters this will be unnecessary. The Canberra Latin Dance Festival has given us 3 double passes to give away to you lot!

I’m a canberra dancer who is about to get an operation done and would love to watch some amazing performances by my dancing friends so I can remember this night when recovering. Thanks 🙂

Hey all, if you want free latin dance lessons and entry this weekend tell us why you need latin dance lessons below. we’re closing this competition today.

I thought sambas came from Subway. Such egregious ignorance deserves a reward.

That sure looks fun…
