Tuggeranong Windscreens is good – Phone 0412 623 143.

Im not sure why, but even in this day and age I wonder how serious a business is, when their phone contact is a mobile phone. I found several businesses like this in my recent travels, from tow companies to windscreen repairers to spare parts suppliers. Would you trust a doctor or a child-care centre whos only contact is a mobile phone? While Im sure some of these mobile businesses can provide a great service, surely the cost of a land-line is worth it to prove to your customers that youre not a fly-by-night business.

Too true, you dont even need a landline either, a 1300 number piggybacked of a mobile number costs around $15pm plus call costs (which are not overly expensive) is all any business needs. Its not hard to do. It amazes me that people would go through all that effort to start up their own business & not research this sort of thing….

I recently had a new windscreen fitted at Aussie Windscreens in Phillip. I called around several places for replacement glass and was quoted significantly more by OBrien than a handful of other places I called. Aussie Windscreens was able to fit me in conveniently and their price was competitive with other similar businesses.

On a similarly related note, I also contacted O’Briens for a quarter window glass, and was told theyd have to call their supplier and find out. While waiting I called the dealers spare parts department and was quoted $68 for genuine part. O’Briens got back to me and quoted me $140 for an aftermarket part, cheapest they could find.

As a disclaimer, I was good friends with former workers of Phillip Windscreens before it was renamed Aussie Windscreens, it doesnt influence my posting this but it did influence my decision to choose them.

I’d try Windscreens O’Brien or Instant windscreens. NRMA also have a windscreen service now, but i don’t know if they service Canberra yet.
It could also depend on what kind of car you have, as to who can give you the best prices.

ACT glass will be at least $100 cheaper if you are not going through insurance, O’Briens charges through the nose on the retail side of things. I used to work for O’Briens..

I just had my side windows replaced by Across Town Windscreens. This guy (Steve) was 50% cheapers than any other place I rung and and the service was good. I would highly recommend him.

Instant windscreens did mine. Significantly cheaper than O’Briens. Ridiculously fast, and so friendly it wasn’t funny.

Mine needs fixing due to damage by thieves, and the polizei told me that O’Briens are the cheapest. Ringing around a few places has led me to believe that this is the case (that’s for a VP Commodore needing windscreen AND rear quarter, YMMV)

O’Brien’s are good. I got them to fix mine and they were fantastic. And they deal with insurance and everything for you.
