Six days ago winter started but in one month it seems it will really be arriving. From July 7th until July 22nd, setting up on the area recently upgraded for Cirque de Soleil next to the National Library a dome will be erected for Winter Wonderland. Sounding mainly aimed at the kids for the holiday period with ice skating, face painting, fairground type rides, kids “characters” and the like it is also boasting DJ’s (I’d love to know who).

All the info can be found on their website.

Sounds cool (I know – awful pun but I couldn’t help myself).

face painting, oh boy. I do hope they have a Jumping Castle as well. You hardly ever see a jumping castle…

This isn’t really a new idea. Years ago before they renovated the Tuggeranong Hyperdome, they put a huge ice ramp outside the Sizzler/Hungry Jacks entry. Fake snow and face painting too.

I guess one question is, what water will they be using for the ice/snow. And what colour will the snow/ice be?

Our precious drinking water = clear ice, white snow
Recycled water = clear to opaque ice, cream to brown snow:)
Lake Water = blue-green ice and snow:)
