Well they can!

Canberra & Southern NSW Dart Tag (Nerf Wars, HvZ) run events every month in Canberra. It’s an all ages event with appropriate safety and supervision. And best of all – totally free!

We are hosting an event this Sunday at 57 Ormond St, Turner (Haig Park). You can check out the event details on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=197186073648092

HvZ is no longer played at ANU because they didn’t want representations of guns on campus and passed rules to that effect. Don’t act like it’s some conspiracy, it isn’t. Quite a valid reason from the point of the university.

wussbaggy if you ask me.

not according to ANU

It wasn’t banned, and it certainly wasn’t because it was unsafe. I can actually give you some solid information to back that up unless you want to keep flogging your dead horse.

Placing restrictions to the point where its unfeasible to play seems an easy way to “ban” something imo

HvZ also used to occur at ANU but was cancelled due to “safety reasons”.

I think you’ll find there was a little bit more to it than that, and the ANU didn’t cancel it – they just put a lot of restrictions on it. The HvZ club decided not to go ahead with their recent game due to those restrictions.

It is, and always wil be, a very safe (and fun!) form of recreation.
