Witnesses sought; suspicious school fire

ACT Policing is investigating a suspicious fire at Melrose High School in Pearce last night (Saturday, November 8).

About 9.30pm, police attended Melrose High School on Marr Street, Pearce, following a report of a fire at the rear of the building on Beasley Street.

ACT Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished the blaze, which was located in four cardboard recycling bins against an external wall of the school building. There was minimal damage to the inside of the building.

AFP Forensic Services attended to examine the area and investigations are ongoing.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or any suspicious activity near Melrose High School around 9.30pm last night to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
