ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to the ‘glassing’ of a 42-year-old Wanniassa man at the Erindale Vikings Club on Saturday, May 28.

About 12.10am a number of fireworks were let off inside the VP3 lounge with one of the firecrackers landing near the feet of the victim’s partner. A fight inside the lounge broke out shortly after with approximately 10 to 15 males involved.

During the altercation the 42-year-old was struck with a glass bottle to his face, causing serious damage to his right eye. He was later conveyed to The Canberra Hospital by ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics.

Police would like to urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who knows the identity of the offender who threw the glass bottle to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

As I’ve said in this forum before – my hubby had a glass smashed in his face by some coward (a stranger who approached from behind) twenty years ago and he lost his left eye. He has had shards of glass emerging from the skin on his face ever since. The latest was a tiny piece that I pulled from his forehead only two weeks ago.

I really feel for this poor guy who had the bottle smashed in his face and hope the offender serves some serious jail time.

This would be the official announcement of the “Help us with your information”, yes…

Original story has police reference number, but police were busy “investigating”, and the Club was busy covering their arses.

As to

Wasn’t this same post made about a week ago? Glassing, fireworks, Erindale….

Fire crackers inside the club and then a 10-15 person brawl. (inc glassing)
The bogans of Erindale have done this one proud.

I do occasionaly go on a Satty night to this club, but usually gone by 8. But there have always been a number of security guards around, so a little surprised it escalated to an all in brawl. Being so many in this incident I would reckon the cops would already have a number of names, plus CCTV vision. But better to read of such goings on in Civiv, not Erindale.

Glassing again? – just cowards!!!
